I worked at GE Healthcare for more than a year

    Pros

    Good pay, some nice people.

    Cons

Very passive aggressive. When there is a problem with GE staff, they bury their heads in the sand and you have just jump up several levels of leadership to get it addressed. Staff will tell you one thing, then completely take the conversation out of context and use it against you, completely changing the story.

    Advice to Management

Stability, trust but verify, sometimes the customer is right and it is you.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If you want a steady paycheck and like bloated management structures, slow decision-making, and working in politics, you will love it.

    Cons

With GE Healthcare for almost 15 years, and experiencing a steady cultural decline. No more top down goals, now priorities are arbitrarily developed my mediocre "people leaders". Your X weeks of vacation have been replaced by "permissive" scheduling; essentially if you need time off, just ask, but it is no longer owed to you. Regular merit increases are replaced by a small, annual lump-sum and the hopes of VC that is very unlikely. Even the benefits are high premium/high deductible. GEHC has spent too much time cutting operational expenses and not enough time promoting quality, and the revenue shows it...

Hire for the competency, not the task; Otherwise you are always just shuffling the manure.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great talent - highly under utilized Great processes - on paper Great training opportunities

    Cons

Leaders not in for the long haul - make changes short term to make their resume look great and jump roles. Highly matrix - to the point of no accountability Poor out of box quality - focus on time to market over robustness of design

    Advice to Management

Spend less time on reviews (and PPTs), and more time on doing actual work Make decisions and don't suffer from analysis - paralysis Hire leaders who are knowledgeable about business they are leading

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

People are dedicated and passionate of product being developed

    Cons

Challenging market landscape for the product life cycle.

    Advice to Management

Need clear strategy to get employee to focus on execution of critical projects. Too many divergence of development resources. Over commits to customers is straining business and engineering execution.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Lots of growth opportunity, average pay, average benefits. Some managers are very good, and a lot of people really want to do a good job and make quality medical equipment.

    Cons

leadership vision is limited by quarterly earnings. Leadership consistently makes very poor management decisions in order to make quarterly numbers, even though it may cost millions next year to make up for it. Lay offs and turn over have forced far too much work on too few remaining people, and quality has suffered dramatically as a result. Focus on shifting work overseas has cost in terms of quality and responsiveness to business needs. The only reason GE remains competitive in the Healthcare sector is because they've still got enough cash to bail themselves out of the truly terrible management they're suffering under. Culture turns leadership team over every 2-3 years, so leaders don't have to live with the consequences of their poor management practices and decision making.

    Advice to Management

There will be a quarter after this quarter, and a year after this year. Stop trashing the business to make quarterly numbers and remember your obligation to your stockholders and employees. Manage!
