I worked at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

We had a lot of autonomy Flexible ability to be remote

    Cons

There was not a lot of consistency across the company for the job Workloads greatly varied and not always favorably

    Advice to Management

Continue to allow the flexibility as it's a great attraction as well as the ability to be remote. Those that are appreciated will always go above and beyond

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Interesting products that keep customers at the top of their game. For some divisions the products were very well received and made a difference. But others were just poor, me too versions of competitive products.

    Cons

Very poor management at the top, though middle managers were generally good. One always wondered when the beatings would stop, and the answer is “never”. It was sad because so many great folks just gave up - some stayed, many walked away to competitors. But top management constantly wanted to know what you could do for them today and had no problem berating you for the wrong answer.

    Advice to Management

Your teams are doing their best given the constant cost-cutting.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You can work from home; honestly the only positive.

    Cons

Interview, and get told you will work w/ people in your time zone 100% of time. Start, find out everyone you will work with is in India and France and your work day will always start at 4 AM local time. Quality of deliverables is terrible. No one seems to care. Roles are so narrowly defined there is no learning. Very clear you are just a number.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, give up. Terrible job, terrible office space (thanks for not making me come in), no apparent opportunity. It should be alarming when your new hire thinks about leaving in the 1st week and actively starts looking for a new opportunity 5 weeks in. I hear I'm not the only one...

    Pros

Pension. Lots of room for movement within the company

    Cons

Very confusing for a new employee. No onboarding program. Company is so arrogant they fail to listen to employee ideas.

    Advice to Management

Your company is being crushed under its own weight.

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Unlimited PTO. Work-at-home options. Great employees.

    Cons

Healthcare benefits are awful. Guaranteed annual layoffs. Extremely bureaucratic. Highly matrixed organization with too many layers. High management turnover, reorganization are frequent. Management does little to support personal career development and expects individual employees to own their own career path.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees and not about how fast you can make your mark to move up in the food chain.
