I worked at GE Healthcare (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Health benefits are good compared to other companies

    Cons

Not enough help. Managers manage many sites and you may go a month or more without seeing your manager.

    Advice to Management

Hire more biomedical technicians in the Georgia area. There are hospitals where technicians work long hours and even weekends. This can be resolved if there were more technicians in a hospital. It's just too much work to be done by 1 or 2 techs.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Noble mission...some of the best/brightest people...high integrity...opportunities to grow professionally...ability to move horizontally. Most big leaders are genuine and want to make a difference.

    Cons

Short term quarterly cost focus prevents 'some' big thinking and top line growth opportunities. Some members of leadership let personal agendas get in the way of doing the right thing for customers, employees, and the company.

    Advice to Management

Maintain focus on culture and growing top line.

    Pros

Lots of room for movement and advancement.

    Cons

Management is widespread across the globe, and makes it difficult for communication.

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits. Nice people. Opportunities available for the right people!

    Cons

Very large organization that you can get lost in. If you are identified for opportunities to further your career you can do well. If not, you languish.

    Advice to Management

Make your divisions smaller and more autonomous so that people trying to move forward in their careers don't get bogged down by leadership and red tape.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

GE has a great diversity focus and is making a serious effort to put women in STEM jobs. There are opportunities to advance, benefits are good.

    Cons

GE moves quickly. This company is not for the faint of heart. You will be asked to do more in a week than some companies will ask in a month. Work/life balance gets blurred. Their onboarding process is awful. Hope that there is an experienced employee in your new department that can help you navigate as information is not well communicated. Often training is trial by fire. It is not uncommon to start a new job with nobody who knows exactly what you need to learn.

    Advice to Management

There are many new initiatives that are exciting and progressive. Please remember that while these are great in theory, often they don't actually flow down to the font line level.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Huge enough company to supply company car, phone, corporate credit card.

    Cons

Hugh company where it takes a large number of people to address administration issues as simple as changing phone providers or updating home address.

    Advice to Management

Simple to move up the corporate ladder, but most are comfortable taking lateral promotion within their respective fields.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large company with comprehensive benefits. Nature of my job allows me to work from home when the weather is bad or if I'm not feeling well enough to make the hour commute.

    Cons

Company was recently acquired so there are several changes coming down the pipeline. Upward advancement has been slowed down to almost a complete halt which also effects the ability to negotiate salary increases.

I worked at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Progressive company that inspires their employees to be better people. To be healthy, to volunteer, to grow in your career.

    Cons

With growth comes change and change can have its growing pains. Good employees are let go due to organizational changes. Company Knowledge is an asset that employees have that can not be replaced as easily.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep long term employees on for stability purposes. To mentor, to train, to share historical lessons learned. Younger may be cheaper, but the value of a loyal, knowledgeable employee is bear priceless.
