I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Flexible work environment, good pay. Huge trend upwards in terms of culture and focus on expecting managers to manage people and take part in guiding their development

    Cons

Constant layoffs reduces confidence in leadership and people to feel very insecure about their jobs. There is only so much that can be blamed on the market. Layoffs means survivors end up doing 2-3 jobs (literally) and often with no additional compensation. Expected to be available 24/7 making work/life balance impossible. Lots of focus on millennial and fast tracking their careers. No focus on mid career or advanced level professionals creating much turnover and dissatisfaction. A lot of focus on image/perception vs reality. Some businesses have bonuses at lower levels, some don't

    Advice to Management

Pay people for the job they do. Put more focus on the people who get the work done now not those who will have the experience to do so in 10 years. Look beyond the flashy power points and eloquent speakers to those who are actually delivering tangible results. Glad to see positive changes on culture. Make incentives consistent regardless of GE business! We are one company. Get stakeholder and peer input on public rewards, they have become a running joke amongst those who actually work on projects with them or are the customer.
