I have been working at GE as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexi Hours. Nice environment. Nice office. Hi Tech office.

    Cons

Being as a contractor for 5 years, benefits was not given same with full time employee. No headcount given to admin. Either you have to leave the company eventhough you have been preforming the role.

    Advice to Management

Contract staff still an employee that contribute to the company. Should given opportunity to convert full time.
    Financing process is too tedious.

I worked at GE as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Diversified company working with people from various location especially in Asia Pacific because I was arranged for placement in Malaysia. A thorough experience for intern where I was assigned with many tasks handling field service planning & coordination as well as getting involved with the top managers from ASPAC region themselves e.g. Field Service Leader. I was able to experience on-site field service experience at client's site and GE does caters all the expenses during my on-job-training (for interns) there. Had more knowledge in terms of technical details for GE products as well as in the management side of the whole operation.

    Cons

There appears to be some divided line for employees between different GE business inside the office. As Oil & Gas employees tend to associate themselves only with their close colleagues and vice versa for others e.g. Power & Water, Human Resources.

    Pros

Nice workplace, perks benefit so so, strategic office location, very mature organization, highly developed internal training program for functional and leadership.

    Cons

Very fast downsizing ( they call it simplification), unrealistic performance expectation, does not appreciate Asian culture, poor management support, acts and says differently, likes to use jargons for simple words..too many internal process, a lot politics at higher level

    Advice to Management

Keep it simple, don't say things that you cannot do.

I worked at GE as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

High-level executive engagement (does not apply to all interns though), autonomy to create project with a group of interns and impact the team

    Cons

Intern program can be more structured, salary is painfully little (it is symbolic at best), should be more vocal about the benefits interns are entitled to.
