Great Culture, Good Future Outlook, but Room for Improvement

Jun 3, 2020 - Lead Engineer in Schenectady, NY
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      1. Great diversity culture, even without a specific program. Huge improvement from my last job as a government military contractor. 2. A lot of room for career development due to the number of areas that could use improvement.

      Cons

      1. No official Diversity & Inclusion program that i'm aware of. 2. Doesn't feel like an established business yet - it's growing rapidly (still) and profiting in most places, however due to the rapid growth it feels like the company is missing some important aspects. Their documentation and collaboration culture needs serious improvement, every group handles their internal operations differently. Peer reviews/checks are almost non-existent. the culture around safety wants to be there, but there really isn't an established desire internally for placing importance on safety. 3. Seems like once you're in a position, it's extremely hard to advance your career without moving to a different unit/organization. Promotions and recognition within your individual unit are limited.
