    Pros

Flexible pay, great starting salary for the area. This company does really try to help you out. They give multiple opportunities for success and try to provide you with all the tools necessary. I have never had a job make me feel this secure before and the supervisors I have had have all been amazing.

    Cons

Call center life is not easy. If you can't handle people yelling at you, don't consider a phone oriented job.

    Pros

Pay is reasonable for what you’re out through. Some supervisors/managers are amazing. I was fortunate enough to get a great team but it took 6 months to get there

    Cons

If you get a bad supervisor, it’s almost impossible to move up. Everything is micromanaged. All calls 24/7. It’s mentally draining.

    Not worth the time.

    Pros

    Some cool folks work here

    Cons

Managers were good adjusters but not well versed in the actual management of personnel. Every second here is accounted for between phone calls, meetings, and notating your files - so if you need breathing time, this is not the job for you.

    Pros

Organization is large and there are plenty of great people Great for diversifying experience Taught me how to learn and think on the fly Will train you, but be prepared to take notes because management minimizes training time wherever possible.

    Cons

As a contractor, pay and benefits are horrible: No health insurance! Micromanaged—logging my time 4 different ways throughout the week Meeting heavy: people don’t understand the true cost of meetings. Toxic email culture: prepare to be CC’d on everything. Top-down management: no room for serious innovation from employees Security mistakes: my badge and access to do my job got revoked several times, takes weeks to get it back. Management prefers hidden costs to known costs. For instance, they fired all of help desk contractors in January 2021 to save money.... they also lost all of their knowledgeable employees... does that not cost money? Even after covid, WFH is still highly discouraged and is only really for management.

GEICO Has Changed and is not what it used to be

Jun 10, 2021 - IT Manager in Chevy Chase, MD
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The pay and benefits are okay but opportunity for growth is limited to favorites.

    Cons

Work life balance is terrible. Micromanagement and focus on downgrading performance instead of focusing on developing associates and reaching stretch goals. Very negative environment.
