I have been working at GENBAND full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

New "Making Networks Smarter" vision is resonating with customers and prospects. New products will take the company to new heights with new partners and new markets. CEO's vision and leadership has taken GB from nothing to a industry leader. Perspectives13 customer event was First Class event for customer, partners, industry and financial analysts. Customers loved the message from the top of GENBAND.

    Cons

You can easily do GENBAND 24/7 if you'd like but it's not demanded or required for you to be a success. The start-up mentality still lives on in a 2200 person organization which is healthy.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the focused attention and investment on the next generation portfolio. We are on a roll with them and with new F5 and Samsung partnerships we have new ways of winning in wireless than ever before!

I have been working at GENBAND full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Following the Nortel aquisition, the company has morphed its identity and roadmap to be relevant in the market. Current momentum with new strategy and partnerships like Samsung are validating the new vision. CEO is very honest and upfront on industry trends, company progress and implications. The company's focus on employees and philanthropy makes it different than most.

    Cons

Turbulent times over the past few years as the company absorbed the Nortel division and determined direction in changing market. Seems like leadership has handled with momentum building - bonuses paid to employees in Q1 a great sign!

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on the employees and keep the momentum going.

    Pros

There is a Team feeling, Company wide. There is great teamwork across departments.

    Cons

The company tends to have lay offs on a regular basis. They also are growing rapidly and there are some growing pains associated with this.

    Pros

Great Company to work for, can work from home when needed. Potential to become a large player in the IP world.

    Cons

Current economic climate is pushing the company to make cuts in areas that are the bread and butter for revenue. This needs climate is uncertain as intimidating.

    Pros

Great mentorship, great internship program during the summer, R&D team treats interns like employees and recognise good work. Highly recommended to learn about networking technologies, as well as emerging software tools.

    Cons

Not an agile development environment with some rather rigid waterfall milestones. Could also use some younger blood in R&D - culture is also a little bit old fashioned.

    Advice to Management

Keep up good internship program, continue to give good praise for good work, consider a more flexible agile development methodology, otherwise good.
