I worked at GEO Care (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Different working situations daily, the ability to develop meaningful work relationships with staff, the opportunity to grow as a person is available.

    Cons

The pay could be more competitive with the position because the clients being given care are the same throughout the corrections system and the environment doesn't change by much if any means. The use of uniforms would save employees their hard earned money and promote a team atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Really re-evaluate who you hire and how you utilize these people.

I worked at GEO Care full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only thing pro is schedule. Other than that its like they are doing you a favor with a job. Overtime is a must, especially on no sleep, which is great for your bills. If you have a bad marriage you will never see them.

    Cons

Can not give zero stars but would. Nepotism is alive and well in this company. Management considers inmates clients and wants to give them everything they want even if unsafe to others, even staff. Advancement is great if you know which wheel to grease.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees instead of thinking well if this experienced person leaves then 10 more people will want that job.

    Pros

Most other counselors and therapists are friendly and helpful. Flexible hours.

    Cons

Management is not professional, qualified, or organized. The company as a whole does not offer competitive wage or proper room for advancement. Pay is horrible. Employees are micromanaged until they make a mistake then you are expected to be proactive. Management level of accountability is VERY low.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue..

I worked at GEO Care full-time

    Pros

Salary was OK, benefits not so much.

    Cons

The company (management) lies to employees, to clients and to their contracted customers about everything. GEO expects you to practice their unethical ways in order to advance or even survive in their company. It is an extremely unethical company.

    Advice to Management

    Start telling the truth!

    Pros

    Rewarding work with the residents.

"You need courage to work here"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

There is good camraderie amonst the staff. You get a good laugh everyday because sometimes the patients are comical.

    Cons

You are working with the mentally ill and some of them are violent. It can be dangerous to your health, both physical and mental.

    Advice to Management

Treat all your employees with consideration and respect not just the ones you think are important, like the doctors .If an MHT or nurse can get a point for being late so should the managerial staff. In life everyone has similar duties and responsibilities with families and loved ones. Stuff happens.
