    Pros

From the detention side, you meet some cool people and become family with them. You can gain SOME valuable knowledge and experience. Kinda easy to promote if that's what you're looking for.

    Cons

Again, from the detention side, nothing is taken seriously. Rules are set, but never truly enforced. A lot of politics go on around there. If experience is what you're looking for, then start here, but don't waste more than a year here!

    Pros

It can be a stepping stone to real law enforcement

    Cons

never see your family because of mandatory overtime, low pay, admin hates you, favoritism, sexism, racism, understaffed

    Advice to Management

replace yourselves with people who care and hire more officers to fully staff the floor

    Pros

As difficult as you want it to be. There will always be work in law enforcement agencies good place to start for experience.

    Cons

Always short of staff. And sometimes mandate you when you've always voluntered

    Pros

Pay is good for a new grad RN

    Cons

Horrible work environment. Poor morale. Favoritism. Unprofessionalism. Risking your license on a daily basis. Most hires are inexperience nurses who do not have much medical knowledge. Backstabbing co workers. It is so poor here that it is rare if people stay for 6 months. Vacation and benefits are Terrible. Poor documentation. Lies on medical documents. I would never work here ever again. I'd rather work at McDonald's!

    Advice to Management

    Start hiring better people

I have been working at GEO Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work experience. Very easy to get a job with little to no work experience. For how easy it is to get the job, the pay is decent

    Cons

No raises. VERY Inconsistent leadership. FAVORITISM! Everyone complains about their job, cannot keep employees happy.

    Advice to Management

Learn to manage. Get on the same page.

I have been working at GEO Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I do enjoy making an impact in inmates lives by helping them improve their education and moral / religious values.

    Cons

A management team that changes the duties of the employees, requiring instructors to work as officers during down time. Requiring salary employees to work as hourly employees, telling employees they will be terminated if they leave early after their job assignment is complete. Having different standards for different employees in the same department. Last, overlooking most stuff, while making a big deal out of what they choose to.

    Advice to Management

Manage fairly, to all employees. If an employee is Salary, treat him / her as such, or make them Hourly. Don't have a different set of standards for a group of employees, and another set of standards / expectations for others.

I worked at GEO Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Above average pay
    -Promotional opportunities
    -Transfer options
-Great benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K

    Cons

-Administration not on the same page
-Sergeants and Lieutenants too afraid to stand up for Officers

    Advice to Management

All management needs to be retrained. They refuse to realize that they don't make the facility run like clockwork, the officers and support staff (culinary, case workers and grounds keepers) are what make GEO a great company. Management sets it back.
