    I worked at GGP full-time

    Pros

personal gym, cafateria, benefit package, location, & skydeck

    Cons

Company goals were clearly convey to its main stakeholders. No trust between Management and staff. No room for advancement unless you're apart of the in crowd. High turn over rate within the company due to poor management team.

    Advice to Management

Look into the communication breakdown at mid-level management. This seems to be a recurring problem under the new Sr Level Management team.

I worked at GGP (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. No one really works too many hours.

    Cons

Where do I begin? It is a pretty toxic-feeling work environment. Constant fire drills to be performed for a field of far-too-many middle management types. Aloof, reclusive, condescending, and rude executive team (mostly in development department, but seemingly across the board), mediocre pay (no one is getting rich working there, let me tell you), a fear-based management system, a drab beige cubicle farm of an office, very limited upward mobility (it makes me sad thinking about all of the older people who have been in their same jobs here for decades!)

    Advice to Management

Try just once to connect with the people that work for you. You may be surprised to learn what they think. There are many smart and talented people working at GGP, which you may notice if you paid any attention to anyone outside of the C-suite. Also, the "culture" that you are attempting to force on the company is somewhat of a sham, though it makes for a nice laughing stock at happy hour!

    Pros

Quiet, pleasant work space. Work pace not demanding.

    Cons

Demeaning, unhelpful co-workers mostly shun newcomers. Supervisory team made up of terrible communicators -- willing to sandbag employees rather than discuss concerns. Poor training procedure for ridiculously outmoded web updating process ("Just keep pressing 'Save' until the update goes through"). Web content work is incredibly boring and more than a little pointless.

    Advice to Management

Fix your processes and training procedures. Develop a web strategy.

I worked at GGP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The compensation is competitive; there is a good work/ life balance. Staff employees are friendly helpful and supportive, really a great group of people to work with. Flexible hours

    Cons

Upper management seems to have no sense of direction for the company and no clear cut goals for the accounting department or the company as a whole.

New systems are introduced and put into effect without proper training.

Promotions are giving to who you know and not what you know

Management shorts bonus every year regardless of your annual review

Too many college graduates were hired in accounting, no experience and retained knowledge in accounting

Some people are inappropriate at work and HR does nothing about it, loud singing, loud music, grade school perks (hiding chairs, trashing cubes, hiding spoiled food in cube)

Dress code needs to be enforced, short dresses & skirts, low cut blouses, leggings are all wore daily

Most managers play the blame game and point fingers

    Training is lacking or non-existent

VERY high turnover, in a group of 20 people, 11 left in a years time.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to employee complaints, 100 people has said the same thing and complained to manager and/or HR and nothing has been done. The company is losing great employees daily.

I have been working at GGP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

GGP has a amazing collection on shopping centers.

    Cons

The CEO and senior executives do not understand marketing at all. They have reorganized the marketing department numerous times over my 3 years and will never give a program more than 6 months before they are on to the next.

On 12-1-2015, the field marketing staff was all laid off because the CEO says 'research shows that local marketing brings no value to our malls.'

If you are considering working for GGP you should reconsider due to the unprofessional management of senior leadership.

    Advice to Management

Hire industry professionals to lead marketing, providing them adequate funding to do their jobs and then let them do what you hired them to do.

I have been working at GGP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work-life balance, great pay and benefits. Team members and culture are outstanding. Work environment is really top notch and culture program is among the best I've seen.

    Cons

Large departmental changes were not communicated directly to field teams. Feels like everything we brought in to do has been tossed aside after a lot of hard work. Feeling demeaned by the way it has been handled. If you are in marketing, steer clear of GGP as they seem to blow with the wind and have never had a clear and decisive marketing strategy for more than a couple of years. You may get hired and enjoy your experience, but given their treatment of field marketing over the last 15 years, I'd caution you to stay away.

    Advice to Management

Consider executing a long term strategy for marketing and giving field teams the resources to move the needle in a positive direction. No great marketing plan can be built in a year or two it takes 5-7 years of consistent execution.

    Pros

Lots of places to eat during the day. Beautiful women everywhere. Many different cultures visit. Near the freeway. Steady work.

    Cons

It's on the strip. Holidays they have off site Parking. Management responds slowly to requests. The pay is very low for a flagship property. No Annual raises. Not willing to pay overtime. High turnover rate. They hire too many young people, with no priorities or goals in life.

    Advice to Management

Implement firm company policies regarding tenants, contractors, especially for parking and safety issues.

I worked at GGP as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers that always think of the next person. And a place to grow, if you last!

    Cons

The place where management is very disorganized, and like to place blame on everybody else. Someone needs to come in and reorganize the management team, so the company can grow.

    Advice to Management

Please do some research are why the problem is happening, instead of trying to place blame and point fingers

I worked at GGP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard to speak of pros when all you can think of are cons. The only pros -- some of the people still working there (NOT senior level employees).

    Cons

Every corporation likes to preach about its core values of honesty, teamwork, trust, etc., including GGP. Sadly, at this company these core values have lost their true meaning, and have started sounding only too superficial and false since a few year back. Right now all GGP Senior Level cares about is the company's image, and hardly its people and their hard work. It takes them nothing to lay somebody off without a sufficient reason. "Company Restructuring" hardly does it anymore. No one working at GGP right now can have any confidence in the long-term future there. Anyone could be gone tomorrow.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what you are doing to employees. Massively laying people off without a proper explanation does not project a good image and reputation for the company.
