I have been working at GGP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Above average pay scales.
    2. Casual dress/ environment.
    3. Above average in granting vacation and paid sick days.
    4. IT, Accounting/ Finanace Depts are very helpful.

    Cons

    1. Constant restructuring.
    2. Sr. management is exhibiting ineffective leadership. No excuses for swearing at and berating employees in front of their peers.
    3. Too many differing opinions among leadership and lack of one vision.
    4. Problem employees in leadership roles and nothing done about them by HR…perhaps try 360 feedback?
    5. Nepotism. Associates with little to no experience are executives’ family members or buddies.
    6. Favoritism - e.g. one gets a higher bonus than another because they’re liked more.
    7. Some teams are uncooperative with corporate requests, making projects more difficult.
    8. Lack of appropriate training programs by dept managers (not necessarily HR’s programs—those are OK).

    Advice to Management

Fix the cons. Hire an IO company to confidentially survey your employees to get to the root of real issues, not just the “fluff.”

I worked at GGP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Property Accounting Department: I had some amazing and caring and intelligent managers. The culture is a priority. Benefits are good and salary is at market. Hours are reasonable. Atmosphere is laid back and the team is friendly. Technology is up to date.

    Cons

Small scale layoffs are the norm as upper management continues to over and over restructure teams. I don't think they have a clue what they want. Nepotism is a regular occurrence and threatens the department morale. Turnover has gotten out of control in the last year and a half.
CFO and CEO are out of touch and snobby.

    Pros

The people are great, hardworking and accountable.

    Cons

The environment changes too rapidly to give projects a chance for success.

    Pros

Top S&P 500 publicly traded real estate investment trust with lots of top shopping centers in great locations around the US.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't allow for a remote workforce. GGP management isn't forward thinking and flexible when it comes to telecommuting.

    Advice to Management

Change is everywhere and employees are mobile. Please consider a corporate-wide policy to put a mobile workforce strategy in place to meet the needs of your employees. Some of the benefits of a policy such as this is optimization of employee productivity and work/life balance. It could also increase employee retention and help attract new staff!

I worked at GGP (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The offer a decent salary and benefits.

    Cons

Management is horrible. The company was excellent years and years ago. Greed has taken over. Getting rid of employees who have been loyal to hire younger people for less pay.

I worked at GGP as an intern

    Pros

Market leaders in what they do, highly respected in the REIT industry. Given access to a variety of resources and information to complete tasks at hand

    Cons

Not enough responsibilities for interns as some projects take longer than 10 weeks, the team will not trust you with enough work as you will be out of the door pretty soon. Pretty bad culture

    Advice to Management

Have a formal orientation program for interns as they can get to know one another and the way the company works
