    Pros

Loved it. Small company feel embedded with a large company. Great benefits, one handshake to the President.

    Cons

Limited on job growth as your employment is usually on a contract basis, but at least you're in control of your own career path.

I have been working at GHG Corp full-time

    Pros

The benefits are comparable to that of a larger company, the retirement plan has decent matching, they have been in business for over 30 years proving longevity.

    Cons

Unless you're willing to play dirty, you don't stand a chance working at the corporate office. I have no knowledge of how the onsite employees feel about GHG. As an employee who has worked her for a very long time, it's sad to see the turn this company has taken.

    Advice to Management

Don't allow your managers to yell at employees or talk about them to other employees. I've never seen a company allow managers to be so disrespectful to others. It's an ongoing issue and isn't about just one person. The morale at the corporate office is very low. There is more than one manager there who needs training on how to interact with others.

I worked at GHG Corp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small contractor company to NASA, decent pay

    Cons

Management disconnected from own employees onsite. Never once met with supervisor, no company meetings, events, or visits to job location. Too much middle line and multi-level contract and customer management between employees and employer to feel valued or heard.

    Advice to Management

Check in with onsite employees personally and regularly. Be directly involved with employees. Communicate in person and hold employee meetings, not just via email only.

They generally are in good communication with their employees, knew who were the highest performers and compensation was good.

I worked at GHG Corp full-time

    Pros

You get a pay check and reasonable benefits. If you work on contract you should be left alone.

    Cons

Management is horrible, the owner is very meddling and try's to get involved in everything. He does not have any idea what he is doing.

    Advice to Management

I would retire and let someone else take over before you run the company into the ground. Things have been not going well for some time and it is time to make a change.

I worked at GHG Corp (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1) GHG has managed to retain a percentage of its intelligent, hard-working innovators through years when times were lean. 2) Although employees work at many locations, the company attempts to offer several annual opportunities for those in the Houston area to get together and meet one another. 3) Benefits are decent. 4) GHG offers a variety of employment options.

    Cons

As noted by some other reviewers, previous management wasn't always particularly astute; in addition, a coterie of somewhat sycophantic "insiders" was given a great degree of privilege and influence not afforded to other employees, creating a corporate culture which was often less than ideal. [A recent long-overdue turnover in key personnel, however, has resulted in a lineup which bodes much better for the average employee - and thus, for the business itself.] Also, as noted, many of the opportunities are ephemeral due to the nature of government contracts.

    Advice to Management

Know the strengths and weaknesses of your employees. Embrace differences of opinion (and dissent) as opportunities to evaluate the effectiveness of your business - and to develop a more well-rounded, flexible company.

  10. "Good company, but lacks business sense and professionalism."

    Pros

Good people, easy relaxed atmosphere. A genuine effort is made to make you feel part of the GHG family.

    Cons

Management is very narrow minded and lacks vision. Underqualified personnel are promoted to key positions only because of "who" you know as opposed to what you know. Has a culture of hiring, promoting people because of personal relationships, as opposed to merit; resulting in many incompetent personnel clinging to power. Operates like a family business with off the cuff decisions without formal process and policies. Good place to rot and be an under achiever, not the place to grow as a professional.

    Advice to Management

Don't hesitate to bring in fresh talent and pay them top $$ so they add value to the company. The company seems to be on path of self destruction right now.
