I have been working at GNC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Helping people change lives and live healthy

    Cons

Lack of training, lack of support, no room to further career, awful pay, high expectations with little to no incentive

    Advice to Management

If you want people to work hard and you value them for being the face of your company pay them what they deserve.

I have been working at GNC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get to positively impact the lives of your customers everyday.

    Cons

They manipulate you to get as much work and money out of you while hardly paying you anything.

    Advice to Management

If you say that you value the store manager position, prove it. Put your money where your mouth is. Until you raise the wages for store managers in Utah you will keep seeing high turnover!

I worked at GNC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    There truly not a pro.

    Cons

Too little pay for all the work you have to do. Too much task little time. They don't pay you overtime. You get blamed for every detail when it's not any of your fault. Conference calls to waste more time.

    Advice to Management

It truly isn't worth the headache and stress. I was with them for 10 years trust me.

I worked at GNC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good for networking, love talking to the customers and building relationships.

    Cons

Low pay for the amount of work that has to go into keeping a store running. Company focuses to much on changing price tags versus the customer service. Not a lot of room for growth as well.

    Advice to Management

Raise the pay so the turn over rate is not so high with this company.

I worked at GNC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Incentives: winning free supplements for stellar performance. Holiday pay. Full benefits. Decent commission.

    Cons

I never had days off work, I just had days when I wasn't physically in a store. The responsibility to pay factor was way off. I'll work my butt off everyday but give me significant raises, not a 26 cent raise once a year! This was also an hourly job and should legally be a salary position.

    Advice to Management

Pay your middle management A LOT more and change to a salary position before you get a class action law suit.

I worked at GNC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New GNC effort, which started 12/28/2016, to turn around the company's fortunes is receiving good early reviews. There are many talented folks that work at GNC that are willing to follow good leaders.

    Cons

Honorable mission to promote healthful lifestyle products but most employees have no ownership granted to them...highly bureaucratic.

    Check stock price history.

    Advice to Management

Practice good leadership and communication methods.

    Pros

    Good commission, good employee discount.

    Cons

Company doesn't care about you. I have never felt less valued as an employee than I did working at GNC. Upper management only cares about numbers.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are good leaders, not just managers. Don't just make everything about profits, show your employees that you actually value them.

    I worked at GNC part-time

    Pros

Working in the health industry is great. They are a recognized brand

    Cons

Little to no training. Compensation was terrible. Quotas on signing people up for a gold card were unrealistic with the low flow of traffic into the store.

I have been working at GNC part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a great atmosphere. Talking to customers, and learning more about the products is great, and then teaching it to others is better.

    Cons

Management is not very well managed. More often we were understaffed, and no discipline actions were taken. Management would often lose things and blame it on other employees, hog sales, down play your role at the store to customers. Interupt customers, tell customers they were busy and had to leave the store because she didn't want to deal with them, even after they had made a purchase from the store. They say they will work with your schedule but they won't. Don't bother for asking for a day off for medical appointments, dentistry, or beutician appointments even for months in advanced, because "She can never work that far out."

    Advice to Management

Work with your workers. Hire managers that know what they are doing. They need to be more organized. Rather than let tasks, trash and more things pile up.
