I worked at GNC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts, product samples and training from big brand sales people were at the top of my list. Hours were flexible too depending on staffing.

    Cons

Staffing stores is challenging. Nobody wants minimum wage part time hours. Too many sale cycles seemed impossible to keep up with.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved in staffing process especially where one person is practically living at the store.

I have been working at GNC part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Depending on the manager, they are usually willing to work with your schedule. You learn about useful information that you can apply to your everyday life.

    Cons

Depending on the manager, there can be a lack of direction. There is minimal upward mobility. The expectation is that employees are fully invested in the company while the company invests minimal into the employees.

    Advice to Management

A standard system of training needs to be implemented. GNC should also consider sponsoring employees that want to be certified in nutrition. The company is lacking innovation. A simple way to fix that would be to install software that suggests products and creates meal plans for customers on the tablets that are collecting dust in every store. Without a more interactive experience, GNC will be going the way of all the other brick and mortar stores. Especially with multiple outlets offering the same products at a lower price.

    Pros

I worked at GNC part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

employee discount, some of the other pros included commission which from what I remember was a pretty decent percentage. Only on third party was where the money was at.

    Cons

Some of the challenges were a lot of hours for low base pay, iffy management, mostly single coverage and plenty of pressure.

I have been working at GNC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You can make your own schedule and you are not constantly micromanaged as long as you are meeting the required tasks

    Cons

Never ending training of part time associates and working within a very small budget to have coverage for a store that is constantly busy

    Advice to Management

Employees that are the same position as me should definitely be getting paid more for the responsibilities that we have on a weekly basis

I have been working at GNC part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learn how to sell, discounts on supplements, make friends with supplement representatives and ultimately get free supplements to try for whatever they are trying to sell. Commission sales.

    Cons

Commission based on sales - even though this was a pro, it can also be a major CON if you do not know how to sell. If you work for a franchise, their is not much opportunity to grow in the business. If you are looking for a career in GNC make sure to look for a Corporate store.
