    Pros

Great growth opportunities with the company. Must be willing to put in the time and effort but it is well worth it.
Flexibility on schedule and good bonus structures.

    Cons

Bonus structure can be a hassle, have to wait until the end of the year to receive one third of your pay in "end of year bonus".
Corporate rules makes some things hard to achieve when it comes to marketing and community outreach.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is happening in the industry and adjust accordingly.

    Pros

Where I'm from, all of the other store managers and sales associates from neighboring stores treat me like family. They're all very kind and always willing to help me and my store in anyway they can. Also, most of the time, my customers are very sweet. I've been working here long enough to have dozens of "regulars" and it makes them feel good to know that there's someone at their local GNC that knows them by a first name basis and knows what they frequently buy or certain health problems they may have that effect what they can and can't take.

    Cons

Everyday there's a completely different goal or some sort of promotion change or huge sale that you HAVE TO meet or get done and those things are usually extremely difficult to get done in one day on such short notice with only one or two people working at that time.
Anyone that works above you, like Senior Sales Managers or Regional Sales Directors, are constantly micro-managing you and your store. They will pop in without any warning almost everyday and even when they're not there they will still call or email and breathe down your neck. And when I say constantly, I mean CONSTANTLY.

    Advice to Management

Just keep in mind everything I spoke about in the "Cons" section before working at a GNC. It may not be the same everywhere but I know that's what it's like in most stores in Oregon. But usually as long as you have a general knowledge or sports nutrition and basic health and wellness supplements, you'll do great as a store manager. Also, when you're hiring people please make sure you ask them how long they're planning to/would like to work for the company because turnover is a huge deal and I believe store managers get a nice raise at the end of the year if you have no turnover.

I have been working at GNC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun place. People make the environment a lot better and more enjoyable. Decent commission base depending on products and promotions going on at the time.

    Cons

Too much stress to hit certain sales goals. Lot of small picking at things just to do it at times. Not near enough pay to deal with the day to day things you'll have to do.

    Advice to Management

Focus more still on the total dollar and customer experience. Rather than all the small kpi's. Increase the rate of pay for employees. Managers barely making more than some associates in certain stores.

I worked at GNC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced, day goes by fast. Salary plus commission is a plus.

    Cons

Obsessed with numbers to a point where it's pushy. Calls in to manager to report numbers up to 3 times a day. Not enough time to manage store and get sales completed.

    Advice to Management

To give store more clerical hours and not be so pushy with numbers.
