I have been working at GNY Insurance Companies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

None since management wont communicate w/ employees.

    Cons

Everything is a secret as if this is a top secret company.

    Advice to Management

There has been rumors that the East Brunswick office is moving to Edison and the rumors are in the NY office too also some VP are sharing this w/ their family and the employees who are effected by this big move are not told about this up coming move and this will really affect a lot of employees and their future we should be told and have an opinion on how to proceed since travelling to a very busy area like Edison will be difficult.

Rumors are harmful and normally not worthy of being addressed, but since this anonymous employee is spreading a rumor in this posting, a response seems warranted. Certain employees must be involved... More

    Pros

Friendly environment which fosters growth & improvement. The company will help you with the costs of materials & exams where other companies will make you pay for yourself. Management gives you plenty of training & guidance and you can ask whenever you have questions.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for growth. There is a clear ceiling.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

GNY is a fantastic company to work. GNY is a small company and people get to know each other quickly. People are friendly and supportive. The leadship team is open to new ideas and so employees are motivated to work.

    Cons

Every person has his/her own role. GNY is not a good place for a person who is not motivated.

    Advice to Management

Keep good communication with employees and keep supporting employees and so employees can proactively take own responsibility for the work.

    Pros

Colleagues are very nice to work with. New HR person has improved the time off and flex time policy.

    Cons

Benefits could be better. Other companies have much better benefits.

    Advice to Management

Improve medical plan. Employees should pay less out of their paycheck since the company is always profitable and they should not have to get a physical in order to save $100. There should be an Employee +1 option. Get a decent short term disability plan. Match the 401k monthly, not annually. Get rid of the time clock and let ALL employees have the work from home option.

I worked at GNY Insurance Companies full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits...nice coworkers and management.

    Cons

A lot of older management. Most people spend their entire careers there. No real opportunities for growth since they tend to hire from outside

I have been working at GNY Insurance Companies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you are smart and want to grow with a company that supports you, if you want to work for a company that wants and listens to your opinions, and doesn't have all of the political layers and bureaucracy that larger companies have where you feel lost in the masses, this is a great company to work for. The people are fantastic and supportive and the philosophy is to make sound decisions, develop and maintain long term relationships, and grow the business for the benefit of all.

    Cons

The work environment is more demanding than in year's past. Employees are expected to do more, have opinions they can support, and find solutions. Employees are given more ownership of their work and those that excel are rewarded, but the expectations of all have grown and not everyone can or is willing to meet the challenge.

    Advice to Management

Keep communicating with employees so that those that fear or are challenged by the idea of change understand how important and necessary it is for survival.
