I have been working at GO Outdoors part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere with some good colleagues. Good staff discount scheme

    Cons

Awful management starting right at the top. Management sleeping together and inappropriate behaviour in public. People who do the least get promoted the quickest. Management are the worst for name calling and bullying. Like staff depending on which way the wind blows.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at GO Outdoors full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good staff discount but it is a gilded cage - the rates of pay are the minimum wage.

    Cons

Breaks - you'll be lucky. To work an 8 hour shift and only get 20 minutes is a regular occurrence Under resourced - not enough staff. Under trained - promises a plenty, but no training. A few months in and you're 'expected' to know. Sociopathic, passive aggressive bullies for managers. Taking all the complaints off rude customers all day. Poorly thought out sales processes. The 'click and collect' is just me doing your shopping. And then you're going to whine at me because it isn't ready, even though you ordered it on the phone only minutes ago. It's a supply chain, darling, not a magic wand. The Profit Protection team is watching the staff (they think everyone is on the pinch) and not the customers or their cash-wasting processes. Pushing everything so that your first year's results are profitable. All at the cost of a massive staff turnover rate, poor quality goods, a "don't give refunds" attitude to your customers. Rubbish organisation.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at GO Outdoors full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Teams which are mostly made up of minimum wage employees are remarkably invested in the business Get to learn about an abundance of products

    Cons

It’s carnage at the moment with the JD changeover having a terrible effect on every aspect of the job Communication is none existent As a manger you have responsibility for everything but control over very little The performance of the head office is a joke with mistake after mistake being made which will always land on the stores shoulders Businesses performing very very poorly and there seems very little strategy to turn it around
