I worked at GPS Capital Markets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive commission structure. Great staff. Fun environment.

    Cons

Hard to sell product. Long sales process.

I worked at GPS Capital Markets as an intern

    Pros

Great atmosphere and company culture. Working with a team and learning from more experienced employees made for a good work environment.

    Cons

A little misleading with what is expected. As an intern it was much more based on sales than it seemed from the interview. Lots of phone calls.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work with the work environment. Be honest when interviewing for new interns and look for ways to keep them interested with the possibility of staying long term.

    Pros

You gain a basic understanding of the foreign currency market. Good atmosphere. Fun co workers. If you do well it is easy to stay on.

    Cons

Don't receive much formal training, it is more learn as you go. The only way you will learn a more in depth understanding of FX is if you actively ask and search it out on your own. Almost all of the internship is cold calling.

    Advice to Management

Have more formal training about the FX market and how to do the operations. Switch the interns from cold calling, to operations, and doing personal tasks for the AE's or something similar.

I have been working at GPS Capital Markets as an intern

    Pros

Good work environment, lots of autonomy. Boss is great to work under, learn quite a bit about the industry.

    Cons

Can get monotonous, and very boring at times. Sometimes quite discouraging as you will go through month long periods of little to no contact with clients.

I worked at GPS Capital Markets as an intern

    Pros

    - Despite being an undergraduate, I felt immediately welcome
    - Everyone I spoke to was friendly and willing to help with questions about their existing code
    - No micromanaging or over-the-top strictness

    Cons

    - Technology was somewhat on the old side ( to be fair though, part of my internship there I was assigned to help them with the transition to newer technology )
    - It can be a little hard to focus sometimes, there are no private offices or cubicles

    Advice to Management

If you're still like when I worked there, just keep it up! It felt like an excellent environment.

    Pros

Great culture, stocked snack/break room, friendly management. Very flexible and understanding about time off. Weekly training meetings.

    Cons

The position was heavily sales based which is great for some people so it isn't really a con, just know that is a huge part of their business model.
