I have been working at GSC Foundries full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Hard to find a positive

    Cons

Management is only worried about sales. The hourly people are great just trying to make the best of a bad situation. You will never be able to satisfy management no matter how hard you work. They will knowingly ship bad parts to customers to meet financial goals Every customer they have is pissed off because of customer service and quality

    Advice to Management

Your time is about up when your company has a part responsible for a catastrophic failure many will tell the truth

I worked at GSC Foundries full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You will get paid on time.....
90% of the people you work with are good people that are just trying to feed their families .

    Cons

You have a corrupt upper management that only respect money . You will work 22 hour days and 90 hour weeks so the GM can meet quotas. Safety is said to be first but really it is last . If you get injuries expect the company to replace you with the next warm body if you make a workers comp claim.

    Advice to Management

I hope you guys stop chasing the all mighty dollar at the cost of injuring your employees . The path GSC is on will surely lead to tragedy that could have been avoided . If you are considering being in this plant please run away not walk you will helplessly watch employees safety being trumped by money.

    Pros

You get a pay check weekly. Excellent employees that have a lot of heart and want to make a change.

    Cons

The GM tries to run the company from an excel sheet. The employees and management really have no morale & the company is falling apart. The GM is trying so hard to micro manage the company that of course everyone fails to meet deadlines because they need permission for the even the slightest change. The facility is in disrepair and OSHA and EPA are trying to shut this place down constantly. The pay is is low entry level and don't expect that to change no lone gets above a 2% raise. No one stays here that long it's a great place to stay until you can find another job that has stability.

    Advice to Management

stand up to the GM otherwise we will all be out of a job, this company has great potential and could become a really great place with the right leadership.

  7. "Chaotic management. Many of the supervisors are cranky (probably stressed to the max)."

I have been working at GSC Foundries full-time

    Pros

Decent pay for full-time regular employee. The production workers are mostly really friendly and warm people.

    Cons

Supervisors are moved around almost monthly. Huge turnover rate as key employees quit to move to other companies where there is more stability and order.

    Advice to Management

Don't give the work of three people to one person and expect quality outcomes. Have better training and onboarding programs. Maybe hire an outside consultant to help you improve it.

    Pros

Plenty of overtime if you want it.

    Cons

GM believes the best way to increase profitability is to reduce labor (fire employees) rather than improve processes. Very short sighted; no long term vision. Supervisors in the Steel plant are incompetent and unwilling to learn. They're there just to cash a paycheck, not to improve the business. They wouldn't know how to run the areas if the team leads left. Low pay for high stress environment. Supervisors are also not held accountable for poor performance. If an issue arises that needs to involve Human Resources, HR will ALWAYS take the side of the person that is higher in authority, not necessarily the person who is in the right. Most of all, the management team as a whole believes the best way to increase performance and profitability is to put pressure on employees to go faster and work harder rather than looking for ways to get the same amount done while reducing labor (i.e process improvements and automation).

    Advice to Management

Do an honest, thorough review of your supervisory team. Ask the employees they supervise about their performance, attitude, and competence and take that into extreme consideration. Also focus on process improvements. GSC can run far leaner with much better equipment and processes.

  11. "Production Supervisor"

    Pros

Great workforce that desires to work hard.

    Cons

Corporate management drives production to an exhausting level. I worked 70-80 hours per week and only had 7 or 8 days off the entire time I was there (5-Months). Company is ore concerned about throughput dollars than pushing the right product and making on time deliveries to their customers.
