Challenged to Succeed
Jul 21, 2021 - Senior Vice President, Group Account Director in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very smart, hard-working people, driven to succeed.
Cons
Automotive industry is changing rapidly with chip shortage, multiple new OE entries, and the focus of EV product with lack of infrastructure to support it.

Pros
I just love it here! The people are amazing! I love all the events the Engage group throws for the company! Some of the events are pure fun, some celebrate Detroit, some celebrate and support diversity, and some are work based. Then there are the Stereo 550 concerts. One day I went down to the OTL and worked on my laptop while listening to live music. The work-life balance is good within my department, and that is super important to me as a Mom. Pay is ok, but worth it since I have the ability to work from home if I need to when I have a sick kid or other emergencies. My department is huge on work hard, play hard and that shows by the amazing work we produce, and the fun we have while working.
Cons
Summer Friday's were taken away. That was a real bummer as it was something I was told I could receive as a FTE. The pay is also just so-so, but when weighed against the fact that my Manager supports me as a Mom with understanding that I may need to be flexible with my hours due to my children, I am ok with that.

Friendly employees, but has unapproachable senior management and no raises
Jan 12, 2009 - Account Supervisor in Dearborn, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Overall this agency generally offers flexible time off, has good medical benefits and there are decent office perks such as yoga and self-defense classes, massages during office hours, and their in-house cafeteria has a very good selection of food if you can't sneak out for lunch or it's a blustery cold winter day in Michigan. In general the employees here are very friendly people with good attitudes and great personalities. Employee morale is good considering the very open environment in this agency. As is the case with most agencies you get a very unique culmination of personalities and opinions which makes for an interesting ppen environment.
Cons
They never give raises no matter how long you've been there and no matter how much work you've put in. It's unfortunate because most of the people there would be dedicated, but are forced to look for other jobs because of the lack of monetary incentive to stay. Oftentimes employees will leave for a short period and work at a competitive agency in order to come back and make double what they previously were. CEO and some of the senior management tend to be arrogant, rude and unapproachable. They are often far too boisterous and forward for an open environment and tend to talk down to employees there.

Awesome Internship Program
Apr 2, 2014 - Account Intern in Dearborn, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I loved my team members because they treated me as though I had been there all along. They helped me learn in a technical sense through my assignments, as well as through their guidance and willingness to expose me to real world agency operations. Team Detroit itself has an amazing atmosphere, very stimulating and pleasant. I enjoyed coming to work every day :)
Cons
I think at times interns are not given enough responsibility because their supervisor(s) are too busy to assign appropriate work to them, but that can happen anywhere. Overall, the intern program is very beneficial and well executed.

An amazing place to work if you just want to go with the flow.
Sep 15, 2010 - Account Supervisor in Dearborn, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Mostly really good people, a very strong field force (compared with the other Tier II field forces I've worked with) and very good benefits package. As long as you do what you're told strategy-wise and don't inject too many new ideas, you'll be promoted very quickly.
Cons
New ideas or thinking not welcomed unless you're "tight" with the right people (and the right people vary from group to group.) If you go against the grain you stop getting promoted but if you just say yes all the time you're seen as a real company player.

Great opportunities and clients, terrible senior leadership
Sep 11, 2016 - Account in Dearborn, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Opportunity to do amazing work. Incredible client with a client relationship unlike any I've seen at other agencies. Lots of great thinking, talented and creative people.
Cons
Senior leadership is tone deaf to the needs of the organization, communication is nonexistent and bureaucracy and competition drive decision making. Want to recruit the kind of people who work at top agencies? Start looking at what top agencies offer in terms of culture, benefits and transparency.
