    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Convenient to travel from Home. Manager was firm but fair & would give me notice of any changes I needed to make to working hours to cover absences of colleagues. All staff were easy to talk to, from porters to senior management.

    Cons

Was contract only - no possibility of a permanent position at the time.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

If it wasn't for the package pension pay and sickness you would not want to work here

    Cons

The dictatorial management does not care about a work life balance for the staff or care the health of it's staff.

    Advice to Management

    Value your workers

  3. "Strange brew - weird combinations of untapped potential, missed chances and self-interest of Officers and politicians."

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Residents, general environment, heritage. Some competent staff and politicians. Most are driven by job preservation, not change.

    Cons

No vision, no leadership, just desperate to balance the books, assuming anyone can make sense of them. Driven by redundant political views. Much personal vindictiveness at every level.

    Advice to Management

The Council is bankrupt (again). A number of officers and politicians should have been moved on years ago, but remain to plot the future. They continue to protest that they are not responsible.

Financially, there is no obvious future for the Borough, except as a Parliamentary Constituency in Norfolk, run by NCC. Unless someone in this organisation wakes up and decides to deal with the simple fact that GYBC, even with an expensive, albeit part-funded temporay CEO, the organisation will not survive the radical changes needed.

Until it rids itself of its anal and isolationist attitudes, starts talking sensibly to its neighbours and staff and gets honest with its residents, GYBC will never generate the support that it now needs.

No amount of Systems Thinking can compensate

  4. "Excellent small town council to work for"

    Pros

Due to the size, nature and geography of the organisation and town it becomes easy to see how everything fits together.

    Cons

The town is cocooned with poor links and boundaries to other meaningful areas so pier organisations are hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Opening up borders and overcoming boundaries with other like minded organisations will improve culture. Difficulty is over coming officer/elected parties different views.
