I worked at GZA GeoEnvironmental full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the most fun people I've worked with, great 401k match, laid back work atmosphere.

    Cons

Low pay and not a lot of room for advancement. People like it here and stay a while. This leads to senior position openings being few and far between. Those that do leave typically do for better pay, better opportunities, or both.

I worked at GZA GeoEnvironmental full-time

    Pros

I worked in 3 separate departments. Solid company overall. Big and interesting projects. Lots of internal resources for growth. Most of the people are very professional and friendly.

    Cons

One department had poor management and some toxic team atmospheres, resulting in me leaving the company.

    Advice to Management

Toxic teams were likely due to resentful junior staff. Most of the senior management are very receptive to junior staff concerns and would address them, but not entirely.

Encourage junior staff to speak up and voice their concerns. When they do, ensure it is not only acknowledged, but acted upon.

I worked at GZA GeoEnvironmental full-time

    Pros

Hands on experience in groundwater monitoring programs and environmental remediation. Adequate pay for entry level employment. A great mix of field work and office work.

    Cons

Management kept the lower level employees in the dark about the health of the company. All year the company would be doing fantastic hitting all goals then around employee reviews the company would be doing very poorly. It would be a tactic to give as little raise as possible to its employees while management received bonuses.

Tons of work, varied experiences, lots of freedom and flexibility.

    Cons

You might get "pidgeon-holed" into a specific role if you aren't a good advocate for yourself.

I worked at GZA GeoEnvironmental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great on the job training that allows entry level staff to learn and grow over time. Good benefits and vacation time.

    Cons

Individual offices work on very focused types of work, so after a few years your ability to expand knowledge may diminish.

    Advice to Management

Allow your staff to travel to different offices to learn more diverse skills.

    Pros

Good place to work to gain fast experience in specialized field. Senior staff is willing to share knowledge

    Cons

Younger staff responsibilities lean heavily towards field assignments.

    Advice to Management

Needs to implement more systems to ensure consistent product

I have been working at GZA GeoEnvironmental full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The president seems to really care about employees. I think the company has gotten a little too spread out for him to really be aware of what happens in each office but overall it seems like he really tries to get to know the employees.

The entry level employees get paid straight time overtime which is really nice because either we get extra money or get to go home early on Friday.

    Cons

The company is disjointed. The east coast doesn't really interact well with the Midwest. It seems strange to be in competition with the other offices in the company.

They stated they were going to examine the male and female salaries at the company but as it stands, the company is not the same company for men and women.

    Advice to Management

The vacation policy is inadequate. The pay is either terrible or great, depending on if you are a head person or not.

    Pros

Very good with developing technical skills

    Cons

Each office acts like its own company. Very territorial. Likely due to the way the office managers and principals bonus tying to office sales, utilizations.

    Advice to Management

    Change
