    I have been working at Gables Residential full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    Gables has a strong culture of service- to it's customers, employees and investors. From the moment I started I felt connected to every team member, because they are all approaching their role with the same relentless desire to serve. Wonderful, tenured leadership that is present and engaged- but also open to new people and ideas, which is a rare thing.

    Cons

    Leadership is somewhat homogeneous, so if you are someone that thinks differently, you're sometimes alone in how you generally approach problem solving. However, I appreciate that the team is AWARE of how homogeneous it is, and striving to create a more diversity in terms of how they approach change management.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

    Pros

    You’ll be kept busy. Virtually no disciplinary action taken.

    Cons

    High staff turnover. Regionals do what they want. VP is flaky, non-existent; takes forever to sign contracts; return calls. ACMs and LPs are kept around forever just to have a body present regardless of performance. Reviews are based on how much you believe in Gables mantra not on actuals.

    Advice to Management

    Hire better upper management. Regionals are unprofessional and non-responsive/hesitant to make decisions. If you’re really about a boutique experience you need to react faster. Residents shouldn’t be complaining for 6 months about pool lights being out.

    You can get a job here with out any experience a chance. They have an onboarding process that couples you with a mentor while you lesrn your job. Decent health benefits, seem to care about employees, easy to transfer locations and job titles within the company.

    Cons

    Give up weekends, work later hours

    Pros

    Management was amazing. Training was very helpful as I was new as a leasing consultant when I started with gables. Great company to work for!

    Cons

    I was at a fee managed property.. so to get anything approved it kind of took a long time.

    Sense of community - lots of social events to boost work culture

    Cons

    Pay is extremely low, often left alone in office, regional managers and hr make it clear that they aren’t interested in well being of anyone but community managers, no room for advancement past assistant manager

    Actually listen to your employees, pay them fairly, and treat them respectfully

    *Nationwide company, internally organized *great benefits and good culture

    Cons

    *DC Regional managers very unprofessional and on their pedestal. *No room for growth! The company is loosing properties in the DC region *Community Managers can have poor work ethic *Very strict audit every year, along with strict guidelines for the leasing office day to day operations which some of their policies are not very customer service oriented *Low pay

    Some management was truly great and supportive. Community atmosphere. Life/work balance encouraged. Great benefits.

    Typical corporate world where upper management allows onsite management to do whatever they want and they are never wrong.

    Advice to Management

    Find ways to ensure the staff on properties truly care about their residents and not just the bottom line. Also, listen to the lower staff members, as they are the ones who actually see and hear what’s really going on.

    Cons

    There is a lot of favoritism and no loyalty with senior employees. If you want to be part of a company that doesn't appreciate your hard work, than you should work here.

    Amazing benefits! Really great training. They cover all the bases and make you feel confident in your skills .

    Cons

    If you fail your secret shop, you do not get any bonuses for the month. It is pass/fail, no in between, which I thought was a little extreme. If you work for a smaller property, you usually work by yourself a lot, which can get lonely.

    Advice to Management

    For employees that usually work alone, try and mix things up and send them to a larger property at least once a week so that they can meet more members of the company.
