This is the most morally backrupt company I've ever worked for

    Apr 10, 2022 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

    Good co-workers Occasional fun assignments

    Cons

No value whatsoever for the human beings who work for them or what they contribute. Their structure is designed to screw people over and your job here is never secure. No honesty or transparency. This company uses and hurts people to an extent I've never seen anywhere else. Some people are good hearted but their hands are tied. Their content is also pretty terrible and this is not a good company to have on your resume. It's a joke and this "experience" is more of a career liability than anything. They also do not care at all about diversity.

    Culture mismatch

Apr 18, 2022 - Director in Louisville, CO

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Meditation and yoga daily, interesting work, great food

    Cons

Very clique-y culture, department managers throwing each other under the bus to subordinates (and new hires!). The exact opposite of high-frequency, positive energy, respectful place you'd expect.

    Mixed Bag

May 12, 2021 - Software Engineer in Louisville, CO

    Pros

The people you work with on a daily basis are smart, friendly, open, and fun. Lots of great personal relationships built and friends made. We have a great cafe and a full gym. Work life balance is very good. And working on a video streaming platform is a lot more fun that all of the dry fin-tech bs that’s out there.

    Cons

Executive team is in drastic need of a makeover. Priorities change on an almost weekly basis. Mission and goals are very haphazard. Very waterfall style process where the CEO basically dictates everything rather than allowing the intelligent, experienced people he’s hired to create a more modern, thriving culture and do what they do best. Culture used to be amazing and is virtually non existent today. Very conflicting messages and ideals. Example: employees must be in office - work from home is not allowed and butts must be in seats... except half the engineering team is now contractors they hired overseas because they can’t backfill positions locally. Lots of bs like this going on these days.

    Unhealthy Work Environment

    Jun 21, 2021 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

This was an easy job, where you could show up and pretend that you're "in the space", that everyone is required to be in. You see, Gaia is an online streaming platform that produces pseudoscience, new-age dribble, and conspiracy content that is on par with the likes of Info Wars and Qanon zombies. They are not so worried about their employees being the best at creating content as they are that you are "in the space" and willing to work within the cult atmosphere. There are some great people working at Gaia, who are underappreciated and overworked as well as tight-knit cliques and social circles that are set up for success more than others.

    Cons

Management is all over the place and constantly restructuring, changing mission plans, and not giving clear direction to the entry-level or mid-level employees that get the job done. There have also been very blatant occurrences of sexism, racism, and antisemitism among high-level employees which were never completely addressed and swept under the rug. It is pretty rare that conspiracy theorists distance themselves from antisemitism, so it is understandable that this behavior is not only present but allowed. It's just a cult. I'd recommend stay away.

    A Confederacy of the Insane

    Pros

The folks you work with (at your same pay rate) are excellent allies to survive in that office plus the cafe and gym are very nice too. I guess I did become a more spiritual person working there, because now I know that there IS a hell.

    Cons

The lack of reasonable and constructive direction (in conjunction with Nero-like authority) from the top trickles down to the rest of the company. Time and resource management is non-existent, projects are born and then are killed with no real reason, time is wasted, and most employees sacrifice everything they have to just fill in the gaps. Racism, sexism, and absurd beliefs from the conspiracy arena are commonplace. I went in with the best intentions and hopes, and I when I left...I came out barely with my life.

    Fantastic Engineering Organization

May 17, 2020 - Senior Software Engineer in Louisville, CO

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Engineering organization is top notch. Lead by an intelligent, kind, humble, supportive, results-driven VP, who values and requires accountability and emotional intelligence, it is a collection of extremely sharp people, who work well together. Agile processes are in place, but not overdone, ensuring data-driven success with solid perimeter monitoring, a scalable, maintainable yet simplified technology stack, kept in check and lead by excellent principal engineers. CI/CD pipeline keeps frequent production deploys available. Feature driven teams deliver high quality code. Team is mostly senior, and is a good place for mid-tier engineers to come on board and learn solid engineering practices in a well-organized code base with excellent team mates. QA resources are amazing, and extremely detail oriented, and though few, are great development resources before, during and after development. Nice campus with a few cool extras: subsidized cafeteria with great food and staff, onsite gym, and yoga/fitness classes. Health benefits include some massage and acupuncture. So many really nice people!

    Cons

Inconsistent/missing support for internal culture of really great individuals, and lack of expressed appreciation from above/outside engineering - can be a bit of a moral/ethical struggle. No support from outside engineering for remote work (if that's important), even though infrastructure and agile processes in place consistently proved productivity and delivery excelled during covid lock down.
