I have been working at Gallagher full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Publicly traded company with an appreciation that employees are their most valuable asset
Work environment reflects family values with The Gallagher Way tenets well displayed and embraced by the leadership team
Talented employees that are really smart and eager to help you learn
Bright and inviting Gathering Room with fresh coffee, cappuccino or espresso all day long! And they even provide almond milk which makes me smile. Fresh fruit and unlimited filtered water.
    Various employee engagement events

    Cons

Honestly I can't think of any. While I may still be in my honeymoon period I am very aware that there are frustrations when you have a more detailed work process. I accept that and prefer to work in a corporate environment that reflects solid business reasons to support their high standards and benchmarks.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for hiring new talent! I am sure there are more talented people in the marketplace who would welcome the opportunity to be a part of the Gallagher team. The progressive nature of the company makes AJG an exciting place to work. Never stop striving for improvement!

I have been working at Gallagher full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture at Gallagher is one of the best in the country, which is one of the reasons we merged our organization with them. The opportunities to grow and become better at what we do are available to everyone. There is also great flexibility in work-life balance. Management is supportive and provides coaching and mentoring.

    Cons

As an extension of a larger office on the other side of the state, sometimes it feels like we're left out of things. Though that's only due to geographical distances.

    Advice to Management

Small and Mid-Sized Market offices feel more exposed to competition than that of larger markets, and need to feel supported more during transitions after an acquisition. They chose to merge with Gallagher because of the capabilities and culture, but sometimes they don't quite understand all of the capabilities that come with being part of the Gallagher family.

I have been working at Gallagher full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -option to work from home

    Cons

-NYC office has a cut-throat culture
    -under staffed, high turnover
-everyone is always at capacity and in turn treats fellow co-workers like garbage

    Advice to Management

Offer Certified Intrinsic Coaching to employees and host a mandatory office development day to address top office concerns and provide skills to approach day to day in a more manageable and respectful way.

I have been working at Gallagher full-time

    Pros

Relaxed environment, friendly co-workers, supervisors vary, the Gallagher Way is inspiring but it's a huge lie. I don't think top company management is aware of the unethical business practices.

    Cons

Pay is a good $10,000 under the going rate at every position. Medical insurance is awful. I feel uncomfortable with things they have us do. I've never worked somewhere so unethical and they claim to be "one of the most ethical companies in the world".

    Advice to Management

I don't know where to start other than there need to be sweeping changes. Not just a little tweak.

I have been working at Gallagher full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice office with great CO-workers who are fun to work with and are team players. The building has the best restaurant on the first floor.

    Cons

Incompetent management who play favorites and who know nothing about insurance or selling it. The morale truly is awful and people can’t wait to retire. The number of people who have left or been terminated is off the charts but no new people joining except a relative of the area president.

    Advice to Management

Stop being a phony all you care about is making budget.

    I worked at Gallagher full-time

    Pros

    Nice co-workers. Central location.

    Cons

This job is advertised as an "advocate" phone position. It is a run of the mill customer service job. 80 calls a day, mostly resetting passwords and talking to people that are very upset about the cost of their benefits - who will yell at you. Entry level, and you will be treated like a dumb child by management. Joyless office environment, worker drones, no room for individuality or creativity. The management is among the worst I have experienced, immature, negative, and absolute inability to lead a team. Plays favorites. Low pay, bad benefits, no perks. Prepare to work long hours, mandatory overtime, with no rewards.

    Advice to Management

Pay people fairly. Treat people with respect and dignity. Stop paying the top 5% the most of the profits, and underpaying everyone else.
