    Cons

Salary increases are bare bones Some not so great people to work with who are managing who should NOT be people managers. People just fit in Salary

    Pros

    * Gallup truly cares about changing the world. We work on projects that have incredible impact on people, companies and communities. * The leadership team is transparent and honest. There's not any of the typical office politics you may find at other companies. Getting promoted isn't something that happens because you know someone ... it's all about your talent and your contributions. * There’s not a lot of hierarchy at Gallup. You may be in the same role for years as you grow and develop, becoming an expert in your role. I’ve also seen people move around to different positions as they settle into what they do best. It’s inspiring to know that if you have the talent and drive to do something, you’re often given the opportunity to try it out. * Our flexible work environment allows us to live our lives while still being successful in our roles. In a culture of high achievers, people don't abuse this benefit. People work hard, and take time when needed. * Managers genuinely care about your success. They won't create your career path for you - that's yours to design - but they will guide and support you along your journey. * I have so many close friendships at work and it creates a culture where we all want to do well because we don't want to let others down. It makes coming to work every day exciting.

    Cons

    * It can be hard to unplug when you're surrounded by so many high-achievers.

    Great Opportunity & Great People

    Apr 1, 2013 - Consultant

    Pros

Decent pay in my role Exercise, cell phone, and travel reimbursement Nice office space and location Great people to work with Great opportunities and experiences if you actively pursue them Flexible work schedule (time and location) Company mission and research makes it easy to feel proud to be part of the organization Focus on healthy eating and lifestyles Opportunity for your own office early in your career in most roles Monthly meetings with your manager make it easier to know how you're doing since you don't have to wait a year Client ratings, internal ratings, and role specific metrics provide multiple areas for feedback for a more balanced assessment Mix between salary and incentive pay (bonus)

    Cons

The hour expectations can be high for some, so it is best to plan out your projects with your manager so you can be more likely to take vacations when you want and be available for other out of work commitments. Many struggle with this and can be frustrated if not done successfully. However, the flexible work program can provide many solutions. The hour expectations can burn some out, but expectations are provided prior to hiring. Each office location is unique so it pays off to ask about each to find the best fit for you (be around others in your role, pick a location that has more contracts in your industry of interest, etc.) There is a lot of responsibility which can be a con for some that are easily overwhelmed. For others it can be motivating and/or lead to great opportunities.

    Man I Hated This Job

Jun 5, 2016 - Telephone Interviewer in Lincoln, NE

    Pros

Flexible work schedule...easy to get this job if you know how to answer the screening questions correctly.

    Cons

I can't imagine why some of the people who have been at Gallup for 10-20 years wouldn't try to get a better job. You come to work every day, login to your account, and begin randomly dialing numbers. Usually you will get answering machines, businesses, or numbers that don't work. Out of the people who DO answer, most of them will hang up on you or yell at you for calling them during dinner time. If you do get them to do the surveys, they will realize how boring and superficial they are half-way through and start getting upset that its so long. You aren't allowed to use your common sense, which often leads to irritating respondents even more when you have to ask if that 'oh yeah' is a YES or a NO...or when you have to ask them personal questions and then probe again and again when they say they don't want to answer. God this job sucks. Its basically all high school kids. I also think its ridiculous how childish of an environment is (probably because its high school kids). You literally get monetary incentives for doing crossword puzzles and attending events on a monthly basis. Just a kindergarten-level engagement tactic that management tries to employ.

Best place I have ever worked

Jun 5, 2018 - Manager in Omaha, NE
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Smart, smart people to work with every day. -People that really care about you as a person: leadership, colleagues, best friends at work. -People that really care about the success of the company. -People that really care about the mission of the company. -Opportunities to continuously learn and grow. -Strengths-based organization where you get to do what you do best every day. -Challenging and engaging work. -Flexible work environment, in terms of both working hours and locations. -Very little bureaucracy to getting work done. If you see a better way of doing something, you can do it because the outcome is what is important.

    Cons

-If you are a person that wants a job that is the same everyday or operates best in the black and white, you may struggle at Gallup. People that thrive on new challenges and can work in the "gray" will love it.
