I have been working at Gannett full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They want you to succeed and make sure they tell you what you need to do to do that. Pay is good for what the job is and I love the commission structure. The supervisors and managers know all the employees.

    Cons

The attendance policy doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room in case of emergencies. Can sometimes be hard to get approved for days off due to the size of the center and the amount of employees.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the old attendance policy with designated Sick Days. There may have been some left on the table by employees who rarely used it, but those same employees are covered in case an emergency comes up at the end of the year.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Strongly communicated core values and emphasis on an agile approach to growth and change. Effective leadership and talent. Very dedicated to its core mission with a very strategically developed path of getting there. Would love to work for them again should the opportunity present itself.

    Cons

Like any company the firm has its stuggles. None more so than others. The evolving that needs to take place in newspapers is the weight it drags through its growth and change.

    Advice to Management

    None.

I have been working at Gannett full-time

    Pros

Gannett has centralized its page design work to five locations throughout the US and each of these hubs is responsible for the design of newspapers in their regions. The work is diverse and covers a good range of small weekly and major metro daily newspapers. The atmosphere is fun, collaborative and creative.

    Cons

It's print journalism in the US and everyone is expected to do more with less. The work can also be high stress at times.
