I worked at Gannett full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lot of news that needs to be written and good opportunities to make impactful stories. Office is located directly across street from City Hall.

    Cons

Gross salary inequities and disparities among staff with same experience and education. Publishers come and go a lot.

    Advice to Management

Make salaries transparent. End preferential treatment of publisher's pets. Make all staff accountable and treat and pay all staff equitably. Hurry up with the newsroom of the future implementation.

I worked at Gannett full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you're interested in the industry and like digital sales, that's the best part.

    Cons

Coworkers, management, corporate, office gossip, everything except the work...which you have to endure all the bad for the enjoyment out of your own job. Bad office environment all around.

    Advice to Management

Communication is lacking, the insurance is awful, and even if someone has been with the company 15+ years, that doesn't make them the best rep. The strategy of the company should be adopted by all and more should be done to improve morale.

I have been working at Gannett full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Other than that? None. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Nunca. Nein. Is that 20 words yet? Because there aren't enough pros to make this 20 words.

    Cons

The harder you work, the less you make! No raises, not even when someone quits and you absorb their job on top of yours. You think you'd be offered SOMETHING in return, right? Think again. The execs line their fat greedy pockets while the rest of us scrape by on lower-than-industry-standard pay that never ever increases. I'm doing the work of three people due to coworkers finding greener pastures, but no additional compensation has been provided, even after asking many times for a raise. This company is the WORST. I only gave it one star because I couldn't give it ZERO stars.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees that you value them! Don't you ever wonder why there is such a high turnover rate? It's because the second people can find anything else, they split faster than you can say UNDERPAID. Get a clue!!!
