I worked at Gannon University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere, great benefits. Take lots of input from the community and actually take steps to enact good suggestions from "underlings"

    Cons

work life balance - expected to spend lots of "free" time there, especially if you're on salary. Much more than a 40 hour work week

I have been working at Gannon University full-time

    Pros

The compensation is better than most other schools. Your coworkers are amazing. Great leadership experience with proper guidance. Looks amazing on job applications.

    Cons

Department not taking staff concerns seriously. Not all supervisors but some make their employees feel belittled. It's really 50/50 if you are going to have a positive experience or not. There is no consistency with expectations. Department is also very unorganized.

    Advice to Management

Rebuild expectations to be more realistic to the RA and residents. Hire supervisors that are willing to work with us to become better at our job and develop leadership skills. Understand that we are student employees and have academic goals that we aspire to attain. Listen and respect your employees.

I worked at Gannon University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

University has pretty good perks for graduate assistants and with the right professor you get to learn a lot by working on some pretty intriguing projects.

    Cons

Could not work for more than 10 hours a week as they didn’t allow students to second their studies for work.

    Advice to Management

Keep the good work on. Help deserving, interested students learn more than just class room teachings.

I worked at Gannon University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Contributed to the University, get to know more students, help to understand the program better, learn how to organize my time as well as others' time.

    Cons

No recognition for a job well done, pay raises for staff (non-faculty) are not merit based. Everyone on campus gets the same thing - you'll get the same raise as a person who never comes in and on the rare occasion they show up does no work. Completely motivating. Months long annual review process for 26 cents, some years there wasn't a raise at all. Starting pay is well below industry standards and most staff on …

I worked at Gannon University full-time

    Pros

Gannon provides good benefits. The tuition exchange program is a bit cumbersome to navigate. If you want to take classes there, it's easy to do.

    Cons

My supervisor routinely lied to our department regarding raises. She had the ability to manipulate the system. Human Resources department would not listen to our concerns.
