I worked at Gap Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is always about doing what is right for its people. There is a high level of transparency with leaders and large number of opportunities for talents to move from one brand to another, as well as to corporate level. With a strong culture, there are long-tenured leaders who continues to add value and drive business to success.

    Cons

The company values collaboration which sometimes, may require a longer timeline to implement some projects. Yet, the outcome is always of high quality and changes are sustainable.

    Advice to Management

Continue what you are doing as it is awesome!

    Pros

Gap. Inc and it's sister stores are committed to both employees and customers. There are several programs and things in place that make this far better than the average retail job.

    Cons

When sales and goals aren't met, some managers can get pushy.

    Pros

This company completely lives its values - you can feel good that it has its heart in the right place.

    Cons

Health benefit coverage has declined steadily over time. For example the Kaiser plan is now only 80/20.

I worked at Gap Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits were good. Vacation and PTO were great. Discounts to retail stores were generous, but unable to use discount online. Many of the tenured employees were a fantastic group of people who were like family. Monthly production based bonus. Breakfast and lunch were often served by management.

    Cons

Management could learn to be more communicative. A lot of favorites get away with things while others suffer the ramifications. I was infuriated when I learned temporary new hires were brought in earning a dollar more an hour than what I was making after 3 years of service. A lot of people think no lunches are a con, but it was great not having to leave 30 minutes later because of having to take one during a shift. We got paid 20 minute breaks, so for me, that was a perk. If you can't move fast, then you won't make production, and that can lead to termination.

    Advice to Management

Your senior associates who have given you years of service deserve better than what they have been handed recently.
