I worked at Gap Inc. part-time

    Pros

Amazing coworkers that believe in mixing up your wardrobe with different pieces not exclusively Gap or Banana Republic attire! Offer opportunities to work abroad if traveling is your thing and also offer insurance coverages for full time workers.

    Cons

Weekly, changing schedule which follows retail industry. Work becomes boring after a while as it is the same things over and over again. Selling credit cards or merchandise with a monthly quota does not go well when your team forgets to recognize you. This just happened once or twice to me.

    Advice to Management

Keep the synergy going, employees will only follow and mirror your actions!

I worked at Gap Inc. part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule and generally fun people to work with. Depending on where you apply (aka store size) it can either be a fast-paced environment or more laid back. If you are looking for a career at Gap it is relatively easy to move up if you're competent, but for part-time employees it is very difficult.

    Cons

Quite possibly one of the most mismanaged places I've ever worked for. The managers are well-meaning but lack adequate training (not necessarily their fault) and it makes it difficult to improve the store. Raises are also essentially non-existent for seasonal employees and I worked there for 3 years.

I worked at Gap Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big company with global opportunities in four specialty brands. Headquartered on the two coasts (San Francisco and New York). Great retail management program (develop college grads for general management opportunities). Lateral and promotional opportunities exist.

    Cons

Retail is struggling now. Budgets are tight (do more with less). Executives constantly changing to find the right leadership to crack the nut in this challenging environment. It's felt throughout the organization.

    Advice to Management

    Transparency on

    Pros

Great people, great reputation and gives back to community. Decent pay, benefits and PTO for full time employees.

    Cons

HEAVY workload with many last minute changes. The brunt of work falls on the lowest paid people unfortunately... you have to work up to working less with more pay.

I worked at Gap Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount was nice to have I guess

    Cons

Very bureaucratic and incredibly boring. Turn off your brain if you can. I really cared and tried for a few years, but getting promoted from within doesn't seem to happen often at all.

    Pros

    Inital Decently
    pay and perks, nd raffles

    Cons

Work/life balance, unequal treatment, supv offers of help but never fulfilled, metrics keep changing so raises are harder to achieve

    Advice to Management

You are losing very good people due to supervision attitudes and alliances, more compassion for their employees AS EMPLOYEES and not just another number
