I worked at Gap full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a great environment that really cultivated the strengths of each member of the team while also working to overcome their shortcomings. Provided a great structure in which to advance career-wise as well as a way to give back to the community with an open mind when it comes to volunteer work.

    Cons

The work place was somewhat politically charged in different locations or districts. Each store had an "us against them" type of mentality and, though competition is healthy, sabotage or other back-dealing was sometimes at play.

    Advice to Management

Each employee is different in how fast they acquire skills and their approach to people. Please allow diversity in this instead of try to make everyone the same.

    Pros

The people are what makes Gap a great place to work. The majority of people I've encountered are nice, bright and motivated to do the right thing. The ability to transfer to other brands and departments is also great for career development. You maintain the comfort and safety of staying within the broader company while being able to explore new avenues for your career.

    Cons

Gap is no longer a growth company and has weathered many years of challenging business.

    Advice to Management

Get creative about how to keep employees engaged and be flexible to retain the good talent you have.

    I worked at Gap full-time

    Pros

It was a great full time job to have while in college. Super flexible with hours, and could even work over night if needed.

    Cons

Sometimes could not get the amount of hours that you wanted, and you had to be on your feet all day which sucked at times.

    Advice to Management

Work on improving your relations with employees. A lot of the times i felt as if district managers didn't even care to get to know who I was.
