I have been working at Gap part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

50% off at Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy
I get along with everyone I work it. The people I work with make me like my job even more
I also get a ton of hours. Usually work well over 30+ hours a week for part-time

    Cons

The customers are usually a pain to deal with. Especially when it comes to working the register.
The POS is really slow and needs to be updated. There's always problems with the pin pad.
Returns can be overwhelming and on the weekends there isn't enough people working because there isn't enough hours. You're always stuck with clothes on the floor in the fitting rooms and a ton of go-backs.
There's always a stress of getting a Gap card during your shift. It fluctuates. Sometimes I'll get 12 a month and others only 2.

    Advice to Management

I have wonderful managers but with Gap's new changes with management's salaries and hours, they're all leaving. There's really nothing they can do. The management higher up need to go back to o drawing boards and figure out how to get this company back on track before they start closing more stores

I have been working at Gap part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work out if your store is busy. Lost tonnes of weight while doing this. Suitable for a young student that needs extra cash, not necessarily to pay bills. 50% off full price merchandise or 10% off sale for employees.

    Cons

Lack of stability and hard to combine with any other job due to scheduling method. No extra benefits. A lot of favoritism regarding scheduling. No guarantee you would be scheduled to work to make enough $$$.

    Advice to Management

They need to work on employee stability.

I have been working at Gap full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Having the opportunity to make a change for the company. Being able to grow from a sales associate into a management position within the company.

    Cons

Poorly screened sales associates. Lack of motivation, enthusiasm and value for the gap brand. Customers not appreciating the company. Poorly trained new hires.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the value of managers who do the work instead of the time managers have been there. Unreasonable expectations of when to get projects done.

    I worked at Gap part-time

    Pros

Most of the staff were great to work with.

    Cons

Store is absolutely too big to constantly have to refold clothes with very few staff. They are forceful and overbearing in making staff ask for customers to sign up for credit cards.

I worked at Gap part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There really aren't many pros to working here. The employee discount is very good. You can easily get time off if you are part time.

    Cons

Communication is lacking a lot. The company purposely keeps you under hours to ensure you don't become full time so you don't have to receive benefits. Don't plan on having a steady income with this job. Terrible hours. No room for growth within the company, it is not encouraged.

    Advice to Management

    Treat lower level associates better.
