    Pros

Good atmosphere and culture. Great employee discounts at all gap stores. Every boss I had there was interested in me as a person

    Cons

Pressure for opening gap cards without any real incentive to do so. Training could definitely be better but overall everything was doable.

I worked at Gap part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Set schedule, usually had extra hours that could be picked up, mostly friendly staff and you know what is expected of you.

    Cons

It sometimes feels like you are in high school with all of the drama. Even when you try to stay away from it someone starts it. Don't count on management to actually give you a reference when you leave even if they say they will. Often scheduled us for 4-5 hour shifts so they wouldn't have to worry about breaks.

    Advice to Management

Please follow through on things you say you'll do and understand not everyone wants to make a career out of retail.

    Pros

Gap looks good on your resume if you want a career in retail.
Gap will offer you all the training and opportunities you want, but you will be expected to make some serious compromises.
If you are a creative type you will find an outlet in this organization.
Some of the best leaders I've ever known were people I met while working at the CSSC.
Great benefits, great balance. I loved that I was able to volunteer at my kids' school during working hours without taking time off.

    Cons

Gap is not likely to return to their former glory of the nineties. They were too slow to adapt, and the apparel retail industry has left them behind.
Expect to wait a very long time for a supervisory opportunity.
Gap makes it easy for you to work anywhere, anytime - which isn't always a good thing!
Some of the worst leaders I've ever known were people I met while working at the CSSC. There are a great number of supervisors who were promoted into leadership roles a decade ago, but still have zero leadership skills.

    Advice to Management

    Adapt or die. Good luck

The pay is really good! I had no prior retail experience and started off at $9. After 6 moths got a raise to $10

    Cons

Management is not the greatest. There tends to be Lots of favoritism. Usually get scheduled for the same shifts. They don't mix it up.

I worked at Gap part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I loved working at the GAP. I had a great team and worked there on and off for a decade. I had a great work/life balance and my GM was very flexible and accommodating. The discount at not only the GAP, but Banana and Old Navy could not be beat. I would still work there part time if my store did not close.

    Cons

Basic retail cons. On your feet, rude customers, too many tasks with too little time. This can be found anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Work on saving the brand to prevent further store closings.
