I worked at Gap part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun, easy tasks, usually very friendly coworkers and clientele. Working around the holidays was especially fun and engaging. Flexible scheduling. Great 50% employee discount at all Gap brand stores.

    Cons

Pay was pretty low, but that's to be expected at an entry-level retail job. I did receive a lot of pressure to buy/wear Gap brand clothing. Also very focused on having sales associates open new cards for people, to the point where it could be pushy.

    Advice to Management

Make the path to move up more clear for new employees. Will motivate them to work towards a goal.

I have been working at Gap part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The store I worked at was high-volume so it was a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The leadership team was welcoming and very helpful and accommodating.

    Cons

The pay is not great. Most associates had one or two other jobs to be able to pay their bills. Hours are very spotty at times and they definitely assign hours based on whether or not they like you.

    Advice to Management

Keep your good General Managers around. If they all leave the stores, then the internal structure will start falling apart.

I worked at Gap full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly people that you work with . The discount you get is very generous and applies to gap, old navy, banana Republic and athleta.

    Cons

Limited hours. Starting pay isn’t always the best and could be more competitive. The way you earn vacation time could be better.

    I worked at Gap part-time

    Pros

It was a really typical retail environment. Just folded clothes and helped customers find things. And put things away.

    Cons

I can't really think of any cons. The team and management were nice and there was a lot of flexibility.

    Advice to Management

I don't have much advice for management besides keep up the good work. Maybe raise the hourly wage for employees for motivation.
