I have been working at Gap full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Love what I do
Lots of workshops and resources to help you develop
    Great Benefits and PTO
Expands your knowledge of visual merchandising

    Cons

Never enough hours to get everything done
    Work/Life Balance is a struggle
Do lots of planning and mapping from home
Hard to move up past the store level
Reviews for raises don't adequately measure my work or productivity

    Advice to Management

Merchandisers are unfairly reviewed! Don't measure us by Gap Card numbers or CES scores that don't reflect any of the work we do.
If you want a 24hr new product turn around time you have to give is more hours!

I have been working at Gap part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible, great discounts, meet new people
There's nothing too hard to do in my opinion. I work with a few 16 year olds so it's nothing to it.

    Cons

They rely on the employees to get a certain amount of Gap cards (credit cards) and based on how many you get (or don't get, for that matter) your hours are on the line.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, I've had two different managers in the last 3 years and I've had the worst experience with one and the best with the other. I absolutely love my current manager! My experience has been varied based on management.

I worked at Gap part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is not too stressful. And the coworkers make working at the gap worth it. Flexible work schedule hours are also a bonus.

    Cons

Customers can be very cheap. A fast pacwd stressful environment. Both of which come with ALL retail stores. Bosses were not helpful.

I have been working at Gap part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working for the company as a whole its great. They really care about their patrons, and try accommodating their needs. Their store cards, and benefits, works across most of the company.
Helped to provide a good work/ home balance was a great plus for me. Listen to feedback. Conflict resolution, and understanding. I loved some of my team,

    Cons

This may be in partial to my store. As an associate with previous management experience, I was treated more like a supervisor than an associate, (i.e. doing visual walk throughs, running shipment, having say in what the store should look like or changing how we train others to standards). It felt great, but it made me feel like the didn't care about other people, and I wasn't alone in my assumption.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who really stand out to you, not just anyone. Thoroughly train associate to company standards instead of associate to associate relay. Have a genuine understanding between yourself and those who work under you, even if it is not an ideal relationship at least it will be an honest and respectful one.

    Respectful Culture to be at.
    Great place to explore opportunities

    Cons

Salary packages are not kept at market competition

    Advice to Management

Invest in people same as in technology at the end people make/break technology and that turns into company success.
