    Cons

For a company that has done so much to give to others their are not cons about this company & organization, the staff is truly fabulous

    Advice to Management

My management team has supported through growing & traveling and we strive from one of the best store locations constantly meeting our KPIS and making year back to back. When you have a staff as amazing as mine I never feel like I am working

I have been working at Garage full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Discount Depending on the employees and the other managers you work with, your work day can be fun. But sometimes you get store managers or other managers who are no support.

    Cons

Breakdown in communication from corporate to store. Complete lack of training when you're new to the company. Feeling of under appreciation when you work hard, and someone from corporate just comes in and picks at your work without knowing the struggle of the challenges of working with what you have and under a time constraint.

    I worked at Garage full-time

    Pros

The pay is good if you have experience and are working in a high volume store. The coaching tools are there, should management implement them properly. Tremendous opportunity for growth in the US if you are ambitious and love retail. I loved doing the work as a visual assistant, but hated sales and you have to be able to wear both hats. The district visual manager came in from out of state to train with my store manager...

    Cons

When you are a manager in retail the expectation is that your life revolves around the store. That's just the way it is and I knew what to expect. However, I was consistently being scheduled to work 6 days a week, working 11 hour days. Most of the managers have little to no management experience and the result was complete disorganization, high turnover (3 SM's in less than a year), and a lack of unprofessionalism...

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to hire managers with experience, instead of rushing at the last minute just to get warm bodies in. Also, stop trying every promotion under the sun at once out of desperation. Listen to your managers when they tell you what competitors are doing. Stop with the favoritism and follow through on policies. Also, value the different strengths in your employees and find out what motivates them so you don't...

I have been working at Garage full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

    - 50% off discount - if you have the right store manager, willing to help develop you -if you have the right team, can be very fun even when the store is very busy

    Cons

I worked at Garage as a sales associate for 2 years. I left then came back as a Key Holder..It took me about a year before I was promoted to Visual Assistant Manager. Which was great if I was paid properly. As an VAM you must do all the visual merchandising work, which include floorsets, placing new product, doing or overseeing that markdowns and transfers were done along with running the sales floor, training, and meeting...

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the good workers you do have before they leave. Some associates and mangers actually love their job but never get positive feedback which is why they look else where. Hire those who are use to high volume. Those who work in a low volume store find Garage to be "stressful" because they're not use to the traffic which affects turnover.

    Advice to Management

Really think your employees satisfaction. If your going to have your employees try to obtain daily "budgets" offer some compensation for the hard work and effort they put it Listen to your employees when they have a backed up problem about a superior! When more then one person complains it may mean something is happening like bullying and you should care enough to look into it.
