I worked at GardaWorld part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were great and the management were also always helpful, considering the job could be stressful. Great benefit plan and great starting pay for part-time work.

    Cons

To get to full time when I was there took a while because you are initially hired as a part-time Cash Logistics Officer (Armoured Guard) but you are often called for extra hours so it can be lucrative.

I have been working at GardaWorld part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to get a job here even if you don't have any prior experience

    Cons

    Low pay
    Too much work
    Disorganized
The management doesn't care much about their guards

    Advice to Management

Some of the sites require a lot of work and the pay is not enough. Management needs to raise wages at such sites.

I have been working at GardaWorld full-time

    Pros

Competitive wage, uniforms provided, straight forward application process

    Cons

Wait for security clearance took almost a year, shift work, no lockers risk getting items stolen

    Advice to Management

I'm still in training and I really like how supportive our trainers on the floor are; there are other admins I find rude and very "my way or the highway." Still feeling things out.

I worked at GardaWorld part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    great pay and benefits
    very flexible schedule
one of the highest paying jobs in the airport on the ground level

    Cons

Management changes a lot, people get fired a lot in this company, every spot is a hot spot, no position is safe, the union does not do much to protect you, they do not have the legal training to vouch for you.

The difficulty of the training is too high, they expect you to find bombs on the first day of training, there is no way to practice before hand, the training manuals are not published, notes in class are not permitted to be studied out of class, there is no rubric or standard the trainee can see, you can be gone for basically any reason, there is no explanation for your termination

Most people seem to have the sense that their jobs are at risk at any time due to a breach or other violations

do not quit your jobs because you start training with Garda, 90% of the class fails for the screening officer position, no matter if you did S1(front positions) or not

The training was more like a lay off for the S1s than a training day.

if you happen to be fired for this, go apply to EI right away no matter what HR tells you.

file a freedom of information request to see what is the reason of the termination, make them explain.

    Advice to Management

transparency and common sense, you did not learn your trade in a day in impossible conditions, why do you expect me to?

I have been working at GardaWorld full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have been with GardaWorld for 5 years One of the better companies to work for. Good pay good benefits. No problem getting time off. Good training department. Room to grow . If you put in an effort your are treated great. If you only do the bare minimum that is what you get back.

    Cons

The hire of new staff is suffering, the new people don't really care or want to work and are making the company look bad. The quality of the uniforms are not good.

    Advice to Management

    Tighten up the hiring process.

    Pros

You will get to interact with a lot of people ; from coworkers, other employees to the passengers and it is quite interesting.

    Cons

There are not so much to think of other than the pressure from the management to keep screening officer's in check with the training and company's policy get a little bit overwhelming at times.
