I worked at GardaWorld part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    great pay and benefits
    very flexible schedule
one of the highest paying jobs in the airport on the ground level

    Cons

Management changes a lot, people get fired a lot in this company, every spot is a hot spot, no position is safe, the union does not do much to protect you, they do not have the legal training to vouch for you.

The difficulty of the training is too high, they expect you to find bombs on the first day of training, there is no way to practice before hand, the training manuals are not published, notes in class are not permitted to be studied out of class, there is no rubric or standard the trainee can see, you can be gone for basically any reason, there is no explanation for your termination

Most people seem to have the sense that their jobs are at risk at any time due to a breach or other violations

do not quit your jobs because you start training with Garda, 90% of the class fails for the screening officer position, no matter if you did S1(front positions) or not

The training was more like a lay off for the S1s than a training day.

if you happen to be fired for this, go apply to EI right away no matter what HR tells you.

file a freedom of information request to see what is the reason of the termination, make them explain.

    Advice to Management

transparency and common sense, you did not learn your trade in a day in impossible conditions, why do you expect me to?

    Pros

Hard to find pros for a company like this. Really hard to think of anything.

    Cons

There are better security companies to work for. Do not work here! Management will not treat you well at all.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your employees

I have been working at GardaWorld full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some staff are good. Uniforms provided by CATSA. Good pay and benefits (only because of the Union)

    Cons

Far too much favoritism, management does not take harassment complaints seriously, so-called Quality Leads add unnecessary stress, Managers step over CATSA regulations

    Advice to Management

You got rid of the old GM which was long overdue, sort out your QLs and morning CPMs and you will see morale increase

I worked at GardaWorld (More than a year)

    Pros

I found no PROS with Gardaworld.

    Cons

This bully, intimidate and mistreat select guards. If you are in the CLICK you can sit in the lunch room all day and play on Facebook. The guard that is not in the so called CLICK has to do all the patrols, walk 12 hours straight, climb all the stairs and put the favorite guards' signatures on the logs at the top of the stairwells. If you don't put their initials on the logs you are written up. They are deprived of any breaks, no water or food for a full 12Hr shift. The Team Leads are Bullies. If you go the Head Office to complain, they do nothing about the problem because they do no want to lose the contract. So bottom line is that your are still Bullied so bad that you are forced to quit.

    Advice to Management

You All Should be fired !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I worked at GardaWorld (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Union security/benefits/vacation time
I honestly can not say anything else good about this company.

    Cons

All the management from CPMs right up to upper management are corrupt. They all need to be fired and hire new staff. They target, bully, harass, intimidate staff to build a fake files against them to fire them. See ripoff report about this company. Horrible. Don't recommend. This company does not value their employees, it's only their bonuses they care about.

    Advice to Management

Need ALL new management at Gardaworld YYC as they are all corrupt and do not know how to run an airport.

    Pros

Allows you to learn to be self managing and not have to work with someone looking over your shoulder.

    Cons

Management is very selfish, have to go out of your way for them to believe you need time off, they never go to bat for you and make you feel like your dispensable to them, promotions are virtually nonexistent unless you really really brownnose management at the main office. Only reason I stay here is because I go to school during the week.

    Advice to Management

Maybe its time to move on and let someone else take over.

I worked at GardaWorld full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Interacting with the public and passengers
    - Gain important interpersonal skills & communication skills
    - Gain valuable work experience
    - Ok wage & benefits

    Cons

    - Work Schedule. Bye bye social life. Shifts are determined using a shift bid based on seniority, so you will end up with the worst shift since you are lowest on the totem pole. Don't expect to get any weekends or holidays off, that includes Christmas. Remember, airports are open 24/7, 365 days and are required to be fully operational day and night.
    - Terrible work environment. Everybody has low morale and complains about their job. Mostly, because of the work schedule.
    - Management. Unfortunately, the management when I was there didn't care at all about their employees. They will not see you as a person with a life outside of work. They will not care if you need a day off or weekend off. Have fun.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees. They are the most important piece of any company or business. There needs to be some flexibility with the schedule or there will always be a terrible work environment with low morale and a high turnover rate.

I have been working at GardaWorld full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I get to sleep on the job and watch Netflix or study for school and get paid to write a report that no one cares to look at in the massive waste of paper stacks.

    Cons

Worst pay, and worst employee care you will just be another employee number instead of a name. You will randomly get calls to work, when you ask? The second they call, don't fall for those shifts its the ones everyone else refused to work.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and don't pay them minimum wage to watch over trillions dollar companies when they are paying you 5 to 8 times our pay rate.
