I worked at GardaWorld full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Interacting with the public and passengers
    - Gain important interpersonal skills & communication skills
    - Gain valuable work experience
    - Ok wage & benefits

    Cons

    - Work Schedule. Bye bye social life. Shifts are determined using a shift bid based on seniority, so you will end up with the worst shift since you are lowest on the totem pole. Don't expect to get any weekends or holidays off, that includes Christmas. Remember, airports are open 24/7, 365 days and are required to be fully operational day and night.
    - Terrible work environment. Everybody has low morale and complains about their job. Mostly, because of the work schedule.
    - Management. Unfortunately, the management when I was there didn't care at all about their employees. They will not see you as a person with a life outside of work. They will not care if you need a day off or weekend off. Have fun.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees. They are the most important piece of any company or business. There needs to be some flexibility with the schedule or there will always be a terrible work environment with low morale and a high turnover rate.

I have been working at GardaWorld full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I get to sleep on the job and watch Netflix or study for school and get paid to write a report that no one cares to look at in the massive waste of paper stacks.

    Cons

Worst pay, and worst employee care you will just be another employee number instead of a name. You will randomly get calls to work, when you ask? The second they call, don't fall for those shifts its the ones everyone else refused to work.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and don't pay them minimum wage to watch over trillions dollar companies when they are paying you 5 to 8 times our pay rate.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits thanks to a strong union

    Cons

Entitled seniority employees, unqualified management, management openly insults staff in front of the public, HR is incredibly difficult to speak to if at all, "Quality Leads" are more interested in seeing staff fail than excel.

    Advice to Management

Hire individuals that have the right qualifications as managers and human resources, stop being so cheap. You deserve to loose the CATSA contract, your SOs consistently save your collective arses everyday despite being belittled, verbally abused and openly mocked by the CPMs

I have been working at GardaWorld full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

What is Pro. Free uniform from United Kingdom. that isn't scaled to fit normal people.

    Cons

Poor Pay Rate, Posts false Job ads for higher rates refuses to pay guards the rate they deserve.

    Advice to Management

Improve rate of pay for all Guards Do not Falsely advertise to hire new guards and pay your experienced guards more 2+ years of experience should constitute mid range pay rate 13 an hour 5+ years should get the higher rate of pay.. same goes for extra qualifications such as loss prevention's experience alarm response. treat your guards better.. CEO needs to open his eyes and the business needs a full reform.. stop lining your pockets with money and invest into your business and take care of the backbone of your company!

    Pros

There really is none that I felt is a pro.

    Cons

People are treated only as tools to get the job done, they don't much care about work/life balance, are super disorganized and knowing several people who still work there, I have heard absolutely nothing good, only complaints.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what employees in the field and front line are telling you and stop with the favouritism. Management is FAR removed from the day to day tasks.

I worked at GardaWorld as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    None. It paid the bills

    Cons

Sea-gull Management at it's best, things rarely get done, and people who are trying to make things happens get their contract cancelled, because it reflect badly on the management team, who do nothing but protect themselves

    Advice to Management

Fire yourself. You are an impendiment to people who wants to get things done.
