I have been working at Gardenvision Merchandising part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun most of the time if you enjoy physical labor and making things look good. It's a challenge to keep everything straight but GV management really works to be accessible, helpful, supportive and patient. They like you to be fairly constant with your schedule, but there is flexibility. Most of the time it's great to be outside and if you know anything about plants it's rewarding to answer customers' questions. But you don't have to know about plants to put them out on display. It helps, but you learn along the way.

    Cons

The store managers can be mean, not necessarily to you as a vendor, but they'll take it out on their own employees and it feels bad. You need to learn to disconnect from that. It's hard to stay in this job too long as it is so physically taxing, so if you are older, say, over 45 or 50, you may find your body eventually starts telling you to step away if you can. (Like a year or more)

    Advice to Management

Keep up the positive, patient, supportive treatment of your employees. We need it after dealing with retail management!!

  6. "Hard work"

I worked at Gardenvision Merchandising full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours, no weekends, no holidays. Gardenvision is a good company to work for.

    Cons

Hard work, you work at Lowes. You are hired to make the store look a certain way but not everyone is on the same page. Hired as part time but turned into full time job.

I have been working at Gardenvision Merchandising part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working outdoors, lots of time to yourself, good break times, most Lowe's people are friendly.

    Cons

I don't know how other places did it but I got maybe 6 hours of Training then got thrown right in by myself. The Lowe's garden center was short staffed so you end up doing twice the work. And for 9$ an hour that is ALOT of work. Be prepared to sweat, get filthy, and work in rain and sun for a low wage. And if they decide your stores busy and you need help. Be prepared to have your hours cut in half when they hire somebody else.would NOT recommend this job to anybody.

    Advice to Management

More training, and try to be compassionate to your workers bc you defiantly don't pay them enough for what they go through.

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere and straightforward work with opportunities to advance. You pick things up relatively quickly and learn a great deal working with management.

    Cons

Occasionally it can get lonely when working for long hours, and the job is very physical. It can be hectic during the spring.

    Pros

If you enjoy plants, gardening, landscaping ideas, helping people select plants - and enjoy being outdoors - this is a great part-time job, which leaves you time during the day for personal time and activities.

They are fair and helpful - just a fun place to work!

    Cons

For me, there are none; the pay is a little above minimum, but you know that going in.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Gardenvision Merchandising part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of independence. Nice amount of breaks. Ability to be creative with your work. Very flexible schedule.

    Cons

Not many hours unless it's peak season. If you aren't the best in your store when hours drop, you will be cut. Usually the best is the person that's worked there the longest.

    Advice to Management

Not much to say here. The management was spot on. More than willing to go out on a limb for employees that my face some problems.
