I worked at Garmin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits but not worth the grief you have to put up with

    Cons

Talk of being a great value-driven company but really all about the bottom line with no concern for customers. Major micromanagement down to the Nth detail.

    Advice to Management

They would not listen to any advice

I worked at Garmin (Less than a year)

    Pros

My job was to do software module testing for aviation products. Many interns in Aviation had similar roles.

    - Gives interns same responsibilities as full-time associates
    - Great work-life balance, competitive pay, interns accrue PTO
    - Voted one of the best intern program by many groups
    - Dedicated mentors to get interns up to speed

    Cons

    - Monotonous work in testing sometimes
    - No communication between two teams, interns are isolated on specific projects

    No major cons

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! Possibly expand interns into technician and product manager roles to expand to a broader range of people.

I have been working at Garmin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the best 401k plans around. Health insurance is excellent and costs much less than anything on the ACA Exchange. Fiscally responsible company, no debt. Olathe ain't no hick Kansas backwater, you can find anything here you want that doesn't require a mountain, a beach, or excessively refined tastes. Corporate culture actively discourages elitism. Casual dress code. Nice people.

    Cons

Not an "If you do X, you'll get Y" environment. If you want to be noticed, you have to make yourself noticeable, and for some that is difficult. If you're a nose-to-the-grindstone type, you risk becoming invisible. Some departments are more insular than others, slowing both themselves and everyone else down.

    Advice to Management

Last week I went to Target just over the hill from our headquarters and saw no less than three separate places in the store where I could pick up a Fitbit, all in high-traffic areas. We make a FAR better product than Fitbit. Why is it so much harder to find?

    Pros

GREAT insurance. Wonderful perks. Friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Low pay compared to other call centers. If your spouse has insurance through their work you pay extra I'd they use your's.

I worked at Garmin (More than a year)

    Pros

Had great vision and campus, helpful people and generally fun work atmosphere. Had a lot of fun activities to participate in with fellow co workers such as outdoor clubs and games during lunch and in the evenings.

    Cons

business market is falling, poor cad software, poor training of employees on design processes, Required to work 50 hours for a few weeks due to department being understaffed and overworked.

    Advice to Management

Implement a plan to train engineers on cad software and practices and make it manditory. Create seperate jobs for PCB Design and PCB checking currently they are in the same boat and one finds himself doing more of the latter.

    Pros

The benefits and coworkers were great. The hours are good as well. The medical, dental and vision insurance is some of the best in the area. The matching 401k and pension are great as well.

    Cons

There is no work life balance at all. They have begun to micro manage you at all turns. They need to be more concerned with the leadership than with the rank and file employees. They spend way too much time hiding behind their walls with headphones on pretending to work when most of the time they are probably watching youtube videos.

I have been working at Garmin part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee discounts on garmin products, various retailers (too many to name), great work environment, people are really friendly

    Cons

I haven't run into any cons yet, though I can assume dealing with irate customers is one.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!
