- Helpful teammates and managers. - Every intern is assigned a full-time software engineer to mentor them and lead them in the right direction. - Working on important content within the company. Most "intern projects" are usually tasks that would have been assigned to full-timers, and most will go into production at some point. - HR does a great job organizing intern events and allowing the interns to interact outside of work. - Active lifestyle focused environment. Lots of opportunity to test products. - Working with intelligent people.

Cons

- Lots of system and module testing (within aviation) - Not really a con, but there Garmin keeps a complex code base that is decently hard to navigate. Additionally, the acronyms will take some getting used to.

Pros

Good mid range company. Very flexible work life balance, will require deadline management every once in a while

Can be a bit slow at times. State of the art at Garmin falls behind industry standards sometimes

Nice benefits, fantastic discount on products and I loved that they paid for so many race entries.

Cons

*Cartography department, not Garmin as a whole* - the work atmosphere was depressing. No collaboration and I never felt like I was part of a team. Work was isolating and you were always being compared to your counterparts. People didn't stay long. Most of my colleagues lasted 1-3 years before leaving.
