I have been working at Garretson Resolution Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most of the people are friendly. There is flexibility in the workplace. The office space is nice. They provide coffee daily and a beer and wine happy hour once a month.

    Cons

Upper management seems to be trying to run the company on a shoestring budget. Yet another mid-level manager is leaving that probably won't be replaced. The IT department is incompetent which makes it difficult to keep systems running properly.

    Advice to Management

Wouldn't do any good to leave advice here. They don't listen.

Though we respect your decision to post in a public forum, as a current employee, we would earnestly welcome the opportunity to speak in person to learn more about your concerns. As you are aware, we are in the middle of a meaningful reorganization that many believe is ‘changing the ...

I worked at Garretson Resolution Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Awesome co-workers, fairly young and lively group, free coffee, and interesting/challenging subject matter. The Project management and data analyst teams are fortunate to have great direct management.

    Cons

Upper management doesn’t understand what anyone does, and there is way too much workload to ever be manageable. When employees leaving they are not replaced and current employees have to absorb the work until they hit a breaking point. Once it gets horrendous they MIGHT consider hiring someone but even then will require months of training before ever actually becoming helpful....

    Advice to Management

Let real leaders manage the company vs the “co founders.” They can chase the opportunities but have no need to be in operations. Also look to your truly good, dedicated employees with so many years of service and promote from within. Many of your senior workers would be much better suited than all of the outsiders brought in over the years that eventually just leave. They have the knowledge and many of them could lead...

I worked at Garretson Resolution Group

    Pros

Generous PTO; Pay is good, but it is based on what you will endure daily. Co-workers are friendly and talented. Casual day on Friday. I guess I will stay in uniform and free coffee when the machine is working.

    Cons

Management structure is weak. Management has their select favorites and if you are not one of them or a "yes man" then your efforts and time will not be noticed by anyone but your family. There is no room for advancement unless you are family, church friend or old co-worker of upper management. IT well I think they are still trying to figure out what that stands for let alone...

    Advice to Management

Management has a weak infrastructure. Build and develop management roles and processes, and boundaries and the employees will follow suite. You cannot have an open door policy when the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. What you are receiving is exactly what you are putting out.....Listen to your employees. Oh and bring back the Christmas party.... the current invite only for executives is lame, the...

    Pros

Great co-workers, Reimbursed for Parking, Conveniently located

    Cons

Management Team has ZERO people skills. Upper management is sexist and discriminatory.

    Advice to Management

Quit! Let someone who respects employees and knows how to motivate their staff have the job. Don't lie to employees about impending layoffs.

    Pros

Young, energetic, and enthusiastic employees. There are a lot of well-intentioned and smart individuals that work here. It's an interesting business, for the curious-type.

    Cons

The dysfunction at this place is so over the top, its actually tough to adequately describe. From making code changes directly to production code during business hours, to children managers (both in physical age and maturity), to the 100% complete lack of any process whatsoever, to making mind-boggling last minute critical snap decisions, to the fact that the upper management...

    Advice to Management

Hire a competent executive IT consultant. And when he tells you to fire and replace the entire department, waste no time in heeding his advice.

I have been working at Garretson Resolution Group

    Pros

Colleagues up to the lower management level are pleasant, hardworking and the vast majority are competent. Employees have the option for a casual dress code in exchange for minimal donations to a company-chosen charity that changes annually.

    Cons

New system was rolled out too quickly with not enough pre-rollout testing. As a result, there are a lot of problems, and the data coming out of the system is not trustworthy, which means a lot of ad hoc fixes and time spent on quality checking. There is evidence of nepotism at the middle-upper management levels, with the associated lack of competence you would probably expect....

    Advice to Management

Increase pay rates for those "in the trenches" across the board, and institute a bonus program. Take sufficient time testing new systems prior to rollout. Recognize that salaried employees are being paid for 40 hours per week, and shouldn't be consistently expected to work more than that. Conduct truly competitive interviewing for all positions.
