I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Been at the company over a dozen years straight out of university and had a promotion every 2-3yrs. Been able to earn good money, travel the world (often on their expense), interact with smart people every day.

    Cons

We've been growing quick so constant change and process retooling can get frustrating at times. Don't always pay internal promotions as much as external market would.

I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Experience with consultative sales to C-level executives. Selling a product that truly works and is becoming inherently more important as the rate of change with technology exponentially increases.

    Great culture

If you're serious about your career, this is about as good as it gets to start.

    Cons

Politics can be tough. Luck is also apparent but usually evens out over time

    Advice to Management

Treat people like people not a number. Gartner has an opportunity to be something special, not just another tech company.

I have been working at Gartner full-time

    Pros

A lot of opportunity to advance. You work with a ton of bright individuals.

    Cons

Company has strict guidelines on promotion. Must be in a role for a certain amount of time instead of ability to perform in new role.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Gartner full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I'm never the smartest person in the room (unless I'm working at home).Great culture that drives the highest quality research.

    Cons

Salaries not commensurate with those of executives at IT vendors. Methodologies can be a bit overbearing.

    Advice to Management

Keep demanding intellectual rigor, but be a little looser with methodology requirements. Your research analysts need to maintain their creative spark.

I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's tough to boil down a great experience into a "pitch" for others, but for what it's worth, joining Gartner was the best professional decision of my career. The professional development alone is huge. We are expected (and trained) to speak with conviction to C-level executives everyday. Gartner gives you the tools to do this well, which creates all kinds of professional opportunities in and of itself.

    Cons

Compared to the tech sales industry, turnover seems very low, but is still a factor, especially within the SMB channel. Getting a good-great area manager seems to make the difference. Leadership knows this and is actively working towards trying to close the gap.

I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They invest heavily in the development of their people, maintain a highly collaborative environment and focus on a growth mindset.

There is limitless potential as you look at growing your sales career and multiple opportunities to work in their support services outside of sales.

Great people and great company to work for.

    Cons

There are growing pains as they look to integrate more effectively with recent acquisitions and new products.

Opportunities can be siloed in their main headquarters with limited advancement outside of their main offices.

I worked at Gartner as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Great internship and amazing learning experience. This internship prepared me for my sales career more than any of my college sales classes did. The corporate culture is amazing - everyone wants you to succeed! They train you and help you out from start to finish. A growing company and a growing internship program!

    Cons

If I had to name a con I would say I would've wanted the second part of the bonus (sales competition) to be more achievable to all interns.
