I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Been at the company over a dozen years straight out of university and had a promotion every 2-3yrs. Been able to earn good money, travel the world (often on their expense), interact with smart people every day.

    Cons

We've been growing quick so constant change and process retooling can get frustrating at times. Don't always pay internal promotions as much as external market would.

I have been working at Gartner full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent training, great peer network, clear mission, and plenty of opportunity to tailor the research job to the types of activities you enjoy most. Flexible work location for analysts. Tremendous support resources designed to make the analyst role more manageable.

    Cons

Travel is carefully managed, which for new analysts, who come from competing firms and think they should be at every vendor conference, can be an adjustment. Working effectively at Gartner requires efficient use of time. The work and the clients are demanding.

    Advice to Management

Maintain your current focus on measured and sustainable growth. Continue to make investments in tools that will draw additional insights from the data we already have.

I have been working at Gartner full-time

    Pros

Defined processes, continuous feedback on your performance, provided many tools to ensure you will be successful, work with other top talent who make it so you want to be better at all you do!

    Cons

Have just a few more resume vaults to access so you don't have to do as much digging for candidate information such as emails and phone numbers

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing to make the company processes continue to evolve and improve Gartner's bottom line

    I worked at Gartner full-time

    Pros

Great team of people, opportunities to make many vendor/industry contacts, gain exposure across a wide range of enterprises.

    Cons

Strong focus on results tends to limit technologies covered to the "hot" categories, difficult to move vertically within the company, expectation that an analyst is an analyst and can "sub in" even for co-workers with very different coverage areas.

    I worked at Gartner full-time

    Pros

Often brilliant colleagues, especially in research, offering the opportunity to learn something new every day. Great brand and a great deal of autonomy - many positions are remote.

    Cons

Political culture with lots of favoritism for those who play the rah-rah game well. Very little tolerance for new ideas or different points of view.

    Advice to Management

More diversity! Embrace feedback from employees. Institute 360-degree reviews to get superior talent into influential positions and see better results in various business lines.

I have been working at Gartner full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This company never stops growing, and never stops hiring the very best talent! 2017 has seen the organization evolve and accelerate it's coverage to the business world, and with this we all as employees are evolving and accelerating our careers! I work with some of the most passionate, forward thinking people I've ever met, people who push me to excel each and every day. I'm 6 years in and still feel like I did on my first day - truly amazed that I work for this company.

    Cons

This is a fast paced organization, I list as a con merely to ensure that those who are considering Gartner are strapped in and ready for the ride!

    Advice to Management

Keep leveraging the support to enhance your leadership capabilities
