I’m 20 and been working for a year at Gartner already. Should I stop considering going to college at this point?

    Pros

Such great smart people however hindered by out dated decisions from head office.

    Cons

Gartner are trying discreetly to push every non premium account onto self service because it's cheaper to deliver. They have eliminated virtually all conferencing staff, virtually eliminated expenses, reduced service teams dramatically and even try to have executive partners deliver purely virtually. Therefore all of these issues get dumped onto the poor AEs who average tenure is 1 year. AEs are pushed harder than ever to grow business with reduced service levels. Not sure what planet they are on or what customer would pay more to have service levels dropped. Also we are losing service staff everyday as they have too many accounts to service, no time to do this and extremely poor leadership who are constantly stressed out. They talk about work life balance but throw so much work at people that it creates burn out.

Gartner India Consulting is one of the most misled & mismanaged consulting firms

Dec 12, 2017 - IT Consultant in Gurgaon, Haryana

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Work life balance if you're doing the work most of the consulting team does (copy from Gartner reports and paste it into a presentation)

    Cons

    1. No learning 2. People oversell themselves - Most of them are just copy pasting the stuff from Gartner reports into a presentation given to them from an on-site consultant and showoff that they are better than J.K.Rowling 3. More than 85% of the team does not have a consulting or an IT background( this being an IT consulting firm and people don't know what a server, cloud, VM etc. is) 4. There are no defined parameters for the year-end appraisal and no defined metrics to measure performance ( Gartner has defined some metrics but they aren't able to judge associates on them) 5. The India office senior leadership has no clue as to how to sail the ship and are always awaiting instructions from the "top" 6. They will ask you for your passport before all your other documents at the time of joining - don't be mislead, you never get to travel onsite 7. Lot of salary disparity between people with the same designation - People on the same designation with little/no-experience are way more than people with relevant experience

    Great Company for Growth

    May 9, 2018 - Anonymous Employee

    Business Outlook

    Pros

This is a company that is focused on being the best resource of information and advice for companies around the world from start-ups to the Fortune 500. In order to accomplish that, they only hire the best and brightest. What I love about this company are a few things: • High growth which translates to fast development for your career • Investment in your current and future success • Team environment tackling fun and new challenges • Proven playbook of success - don't have to 'try and figure out' how to do your job Great work life balance so you can focus on the other important aspects of your life • Feedback and coaching heavy environment - know where you stand every day and can leverage for your own success and that of those around you • Great onsite amenities such as a gym, chef, valet, etc. (Fort Myers)

    Cons

Not every company is perfect but at the end of the day, Gartner does the "right thing". Since our product is intangible, we put our focus in our employees who are our greatest asset. No major cons at this time.

Great culture with outstanding earning potential

    Aug 7, 2014 - Sponsorship Sales

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Outstanding reputation and brand recognition in the market, strong belief in ongoing training for sales teams with no cap on earnings. Generous vacation allowance & benefits. Management very open to travel to meet with prospects & clients on regular basis.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be challenging when complying with F2F meeting requirements and attending events starting on weekend. Would have liked more options for career growth within the events business.
