I have been working at Gates Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people who work at Gates in mid-management or below are great for the most part. It would be great to see some internal Gates associated promoted to higher levels rather than bringing in outside people, usually friends of the CEO from his past position.

    Cons

Upper management has no idea what is going on. Service levels are the poorest they have ever been and the executives are blaming customers for ordering too much! The organization is fragmented and confusing; too many silos have been created in the last few years. Employee morale is at an all time-low.

    Advice to Management

Our top level should be removed and replaced with caring, knowledgeable executives that care about the company, the business and the people. Gates associates should be considered first for any new positions, especially positions at higher levels.

I have been working at Gates Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable company on a positive trajectory. Talented people throughout the organization that are collaborative and down to earth. Company is in the midst of significant change which is creating lots of opportunity for employees to contribute. Performance driven culture that requires strong work ethic and accountability.

    Cons

Communication is fragmented and inconsistent which can be unsettling and keeps the rumor mill running. While much improved, silos still exist in company.

    Advice to Management

Focus on training. Mid-level managers seem to struggle with change management and communicating information to their teams.

    Pros

Flexible work schedules and good work life balance.

    Cons

Low pay compared to national average.

    Advice to Management

Compensations analysis across the entire organization is needed not only to establish equity between men and women but with similar jobs in the area.

I worked at Gates Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Gates has a great product and brand recognition. It used to be a great place to work.

    Cons

C-Level executives are running Gates. Running off all the best people. Since they've been in power, almost all legacy employees have resigned or been fired.

    Advice to Management

Blackstone needs to replace current executives!

I worked at Gates Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I wish I had a good comment to say about this company. To be honest, I have none so I can't say much here.

    Cons

There is no room for growth. The works are not challenging enough so you are left with doing the same thing over and over again.

Horrible team management, not organized, and very old school.

    The company is not diverse.

    Advice to Management

Start thinking about your team, find ways to coach and grow your staffs, seniors, and managers. We are in the 21st centers so start thinking like it.

I have been working at Gates Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice working environment and had good benefits. Co-workers are friendly and accommodating.

    Cons

Some upper management (Technical VPs) sole interest is to project their positive image to the SVP's and the CEO in order to survive and get promoted. The lack of progress and the decline in standards is visible to most Gates employees.

    Advice to Management

Remove the culture of favoritism and style over substance promotions. Be bold and remove the current old guards who are good at their own survival strategy and not that of the company.
