    Pros

    Its a decent job to start at.

    Cons

    There is favorites with managers. They don't value opinions of staff.

    Listen to your workers.

    I worked at Gatten Sushi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great concept. inexpensive, reasonably healthy selection of fish.

    Cons

    Very poor management, lots of in fighting with fellow employees, conflicts over non-professional behavior.

    Cool employees (mostly). Considerate to working students.

    Cons

    Poor and unstable management. Inconsistent with food quality.

    Advice to Management

    Be open to employees' input and suggestion for better, if not best solution.

    I have been working at Gatten Sushi part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nothing good about the managers and nothing good to say about how the restaurant is manages problems. Everything else is alright. Good coworkers

    Cons

    -manager has horrible attitude against me
    -manager uses unprofessional and inappropriate language to me since I understand Japanese
    -everyone complains and complains but does nothing about it
    -nothing is ever organized, the response from manager is always, "I don't know"
    -Lots of workplace hazards
    -manager never tells you when he changes the schedule
    -everyone points fingers and blames people
    -never pays for overtime
    -never looks at reviews like this
    -company treats the people in kitchen like slaves
    -people stop caring about things since no one does it so I end up doing it
    -manager never helps out with anything
    -manager always complains about everyone else when he's the one who does nothing about it
    -work load is insane

    Advice to Management

    hire managers who actually know what they're doing
    Don't work here EVER

    Pros

    Free sushi if you're slick enough, cool coworkers, easy work, pretty much it

    Cons

    Favoritism from managers sometimes forget to pay for a whole day of work. Will yell at you in front of customers. Management can't speak english.

    Advice to Management

    Learn english or hire people who know english. Stop playing favorites in regards to scheduling

    Good tips Nice people (most of the time) fun people not hard once you get the hang of it.

    Cons

    Unstable schedules, unstable moods, lack of communication front of house and back of house, always mistakes in schedule and pay.

    I worked at Gatten Sushi part-time

    Pros

    Was able to learn how to wash dishes quickly and efficiently, also was made to do some food prep, such as cleaning and cooking the rice, and adding vinegar to it.

    Cons

    Back of the house has little room and would get hot sometimes, making me sweat a lot. Back of the house needs better ventilation.

    Advice to Management

    Broke some glass cups because of overload on top shelf of dishwasher, which made the cups slide down and on to the ground, thus shattering them.

    Great co-workers. Discounted sushi for employees. Pay scale raise if you email the corporate office every year.

    Cons

    Management sucks. Don't expect a raise unless you suck up to the supervisor. Manager even said they only care about making money, customers come second.

    Pros

    Greatest coworkers. Pretty decent food but they need to give more than 10% off the meals for employees!!!

    Cons

    Horrible management. Terrible scheduling. Aggressively loud voice training each morning wastes time and does nothing.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees with more respect and not like cattle. They are young but talented and need better treatment than what you give.
