I have been working at Gatwick Airport full-time

    Pros

Extremely well organised and structured business.
Fantastic employee benefits incl. public transport discounts, excellent pension scheme, fuel cost schemes, flight + holiday deals and MANY MORE!!!!
Fantastic people to work with, GAL is like a huge family and everyone looks out for each other.
Very fond of Gatwick Values which they promote hugely to ensure everyone's treated the same and in a fair manner.
Amazing opportunities for careers and development.
A huge variety of sectors to be working in e.g. Security, Airside Ops, Commercial, Engineering etc...

    Cons

Shifts can be long, however, shift pay is good and also good roster patterns to allow plenty of rest time (working in a 24/7 operation you have to expect shift work)

    Advice to Management

    Keep going!

I worked at Gatwick Airport full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good environment for people of value stability over all else. The company values family commitments and allows a very good work/life balance.

    Cons

The company has a complete lack of integrity; does not commit or follow through on commitments, which is embarrassing for employees and a difficult environment to work in.

There is resistance to change and improvement, favouring stagnant processes and backwards thinking. This is not a suitable place for anyone with ambition beyond lifelong employment at the airport.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better with staff at all levels. The business has too often failed to make progress by making decisions at top level alone. The segregation between senior management and 'everyone else' is too distant. Try something different; involve the whole team. People are willing and wanting to be involved to improve their work environment, but the communication channels need to be opened to allow this.

    Pros

Good team to work with. But do not stay long.

    Cons

The management of - GAL - (Gatwick Airport Limited) are on very high salaries for walking around with a clip board condemning the staff boarding flights. Plus, the hard working PSA (Passenger Service Agent's) are only on £8.25 per hour. Hence why the staff turnover is so remarkable - try telling the management and they are not interested. The price of food and drink in the Airport for staff should be escalated to more than 10% considering the expensive prices charged.

    Advice to Management

    Start listening to colleagues!
