I worked at Gatwick Airport full-time

    Pros

Good work - life balance. Positive atmosphere between the colleagues, some great knowledge access with friendly people. Work well done is valued.

    Cons

As in every big company it does depend under which department / management employee finds themselves. In some departments job security is a real issue.

    Advice to Management

Address departments with job security problems and great rotation of people.
Sustain the great atmosphere you created (approachability, working through challenges together instead of blaming couture), it gives a job satisfaction to people and in return employee devotion and high productivity.
In some departments this atmosphere is rapidly changing into typical corporate rat race culture, act now to preserve what you have so successfully built, as it would be a great shame to loose it.

I have been working at Gatwick Airport full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Colleagues and job satisfaction. I like working at Gatwick overall, I don't dread going to work. I enjoy my job. Shift working has some benefits, having days off during the week for example is helpful for personal appointments etc.

    Cons

Shift working, grumpy & aggresive passengers, being ill a lot because of the conditions (air con and no natural light in the terminals etc)

    Advice to Management

Look after your staff. Morale is low when staff do not have confidence in managers being supportive about your decisions. Be kind to staff and give them regular breaks. It's give and take and at the moment it feels as though management just take. There should be managers discretion for staff sickness to ensure positive wellbeing. We don't work in a healthy environment and we mingle with 100's of people a day so sickness triggers should be more lax.
