I worked at Gaudenzia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. My team was very cohesive and we had the bigger picture in mind when we had things to get done. I had a wonderful boss that raised me up to challenge my abilities and do a better job.

    Cons

It was difficult to have people buy into our policies and procedures for reporting maintenance issues. We were always putting fires out instead having the issue in our system to address them with due diligence.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Gaudenzia full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Watching those who actually get treatment in spite of the workload that keeps counselors away from clients

    Cons

Cult, poor pay for what is expected for the people who work, executives making big bucks, too many staff have gotten ill while trying to do their job, denial of compensation once you are made ill (you are replaceable), too many internal cliques in upper management (co-sign unethical behavior), buildings should be torn down instead of patched, female leaders running organization into the toilet.

    Advice to Management

Retire, get treatment, and rehire all staff forced to leave to put organization back where it was in 2003

I worked at Gaudenzia (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved helping individuals who struggled with drugs and alcohol and gave peer to peer feedback. Enjoyed sharing my experience, strength, and hope with clients

    Cons

No consistency at all and management is also very inconsistent. The pay is horrible and they do not value your worth at all. Work you like a slave.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone who treats their employees with respect and values their worth also your management needs to honor employees needs and wellbeing.

    Pros

Interactions with clients, and the ability to help the clients with their treatment from substance abuse. Gaudenzia benefit package is great: offering health insurance, above adequate time off, life insurance policy paid by company

    Cons

There are not too many downsides to working for the company as a whole except the pay rate is a little low

    Advice to Management

Pay employees their worth in the company. Recognize and acknowledge employees accomplishments

I worked at Gaudenzia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful group of intelligent individuals who genuinely care about the clients. Some employees were former addicts themselves.

    Cons

Salary left much to be desired as they are a non-profit company.

    Advice to Management

Work on employee enticements such as rewards and other benefits to compensate for the minimal annual pay raises.

I worked at Gaudenzia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The clients and doing something that matters. There is growth opportunity but only because the high turnover! It is a company that does not flip out on you or you have to worry about your job if you make a mistake! Mistakes are allowed

    Cons

Unreasonable workload that cannot be met no overtime allowed I are always stressed and set up for failure. The staff in recovery get to do whatever they want and the ones who aren't are heals to a different standard

Former Employee - Addictions Counselor in Pittsburgh, PA

I worked at Gaudenzia full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There was a lot of room to use your creativity and knowledge. Was able to incorporate what I thought was relevant into the curriculum.

    Cons

Very unorganized company. Everything was last minute. Pay wasn't great for the amount of paperwork needing to be done.

    Advice to Management

Organization needs to be worked on extensively. Proper training for those who are not used to the D&A environment, and needs to value their bottom employees a little more.
