I worked at Gaw Capital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A great place to work in, with no politics.

    Cons

If you are looking for a super structured corporate environment similar to an investment bank, this is not the place for you. While everyone is very professional, there is very little bureaucracy and decisions are made and executed swiftly.

    Cons

-No structure/ formal training in the internship program -If you don't like working in a small office, then this is not for you

I worked at Gaw Capital for less than a year

    Pros

    - Flexible on your time (just get your work done and work hard) - Great for people with initiative - Good opportunities to prove yourself and good exposure - Company likes to think out of the box and is entrepreneurial. A real passion for revamping great properties and can move quickly and outcompete other PE firms/buyers. - they have a nice culture and the principals are smart and are good people.

    Cons

    - If you are more junior, there is no training program to get up to speed with their systems of doing things/ financial models. This could mean your time to making a true impact may take longer than normal and the company could be inefficient in this manner. It will be painful but well worth it if you love real estate private equity. - Different teams have different tools and ways of analysing models. It can... actually be a strength for the company as it provides diversified analysis/opinions. But from an operations, on-boarding and a cross-team support perspective, this could be inefficient too if you are trying to understand and do due diligence on another's analysis. Additionally, it means that if a key employee leaves who is in charge of writing a model, it may mean that they leave with all the true knowledge of its inner workings (a headache for continuity, employees covering each other and for a company that needs to be quick on its feet analytically and in decision making, which are part of its key strengths). Making sure models are written elegantly and easy to understand/readable is key here.
